My Prius 4 touring is 72k miles now been using this brand since my 2015 3rd gen prius.

I just bought again so just to let you guys know my 2015 3rd gen traded it with 70k+ miles too so been using this brand quit a while so it's tested, and you can see the writing on the top of the filter, some seller will brand them differently but they are the same, hey 5pcs for $12 pretty sweet right, does the same thing. Don't be paranoid I tested this.

For some reason the site says that that filter is incompatible with my 2017 Three Touring, although the product number listed matches the part number on the invoice I received today after having an oil change. Also, do those filters come with the o-rings?

It's the same. It's eBay's dumb compatibility feature but accurate

It is the same until they changed to the spin on filter.
I personally don’t think it’s worth taking the chance on a non-Toyota filter though.

Cheers for that, I only asked as I have a (genuine Toyota) Gen 3 filter and wondered if I could use it for my Gen 4 when I start doing my own oil changes when my service plan runs out. (y)

There would be no issues there. My son borrowed my filter wrench the last time he changed the filter on his 2015 Prius v (Prius +?)

This topic is certainly a YMMV thing. My experience dates back to when I had a used car & thought the inexpensive FRAM filters were good. I tried a more expensive, better quality air filter and noticed it collected more dust. After I tried the better oil filter a couple of times I noticed the oil noticeably cleaner.

For the difference in price, for me, it is not worth risking additional hidden engine wear by using possibly second rate components.

I do not know about the auto parts industry, but in some other industries the third party parts are sometimes those parts that did not pass the OEM's quality tests. They were designed as proper replacements but failed quality tests.

I have tried this and most of them don’t, I can confirm that it has the same filtering as I use to used oem genuine filter from amazon but now they change price, and tried this and notice same filtering, problem here in the west almost all people who have not tried the item on almost every topic are always paranoid not just this filter but most items they will comment and suggest even without any experience about it but anyways everyone can have opinions but I always listen to the one who tried it, its like a review on amazon they will review and give one star on the product that the courier damaged not the actual item review, just saying not arguing.

In comparing oil filters its important to remember that car makers are concerned with quality and cost. In looking at a OEM
filter for my 2017 Prius it just looks cheep. For starters there is no end cap which keeps the filter
round so it filters all of the oil and at that end.
They are more costly but Pure One and Mobil 1 are my choices as the best, but they are much
    more costly.
