The 98 4runner Limited we had was equipped with it:).

The TRD Tacos are a blast too. Her cousin had one and it was put through it’s paces:cool:.

One of my staff at work just got a new 4runner TRD Pro package over the weekend. Very nice ride(y).

Just so happens I have a 2006 Tacoma pre runner. It was my dads and when he passed away my mom gave it to me. Great trucks. That new Tacoma has the engine that switches into the Atkinson cycle to save gas when you are cruising.

The new Tacoma also has grown to the size of my full size 2000 Tundra.

Yeah. I have a friend with a 2007 Tacoma. He had it in the shop for some maintenance recently and was looking at the new ones with extreme disappointment. A salesman asked him if he wanted a test drive. Friend said, that if he couldn't lean up against it with his elbow on the top of the side of the bed and visit with someone, he didn't want it. If they fixed that, he might be interested. LOL! He's about 81 years old and figures he'll drive that thing as long as he can still drive. He's so strong and healthy, it'll be interesting to see which lasts longer. :D

I figure if we ever replace our Tundra we would look at the Tacoma. I think our only has about 60K miles. We need to replace the original tires sometime this year.:oops:

I was thinking about jerry's OP.
My wife has similar feelings for her car.

“A man with a good wife is the luckiest of God's creatures, and one without must be among the most miserable, I think, the only true blessing of their lives that they don't know how poorly off they are.”

I'm the original owner of a 2004 which has over 190,000 miles and is still on the ORIGINAL HV battery. Dealer service every 5000 miles, and zero problems with the HV system. Or water pumps. Or fans. Or anything else, really. Replaced the front brake pads & turned the rotors at 190,000 (for the first time); rear brakes only needed adjusting.

Just to point out that all of the scare stories are not necessarily true. A sister-in-law had a Gen I Prius, and went about 225,000 miles on the original HV battery, and no other major problems over the life of her vehicle.

Of course every person's experience and vehicle are different. But statements like "the battery is going to fail at X miles" our some other disastrous event Will occur are more often simply scary than true.

Well, I may have made a mistake. I was planning to wait till at least June to replace the PiP since wife wants to keep her Gen 2. But I've been wondering whether to get a hatchback or Prime. I like the trim 3 since it has a spare tire. But I like the Prime for the mileage. I was going right past Tampa Hybrids today and Todd has a 2016 three touring and a 2017 Prime Premium. Both in the low 20k mile range. So I stopped in and he let me drive both. I now have lots more data, still haven't made up my mind, but I have a nearly overwhelming urge to go to the credit union.

My impressions after driving both of them over the same 18 mile route consisting of 35-70 mph speed limits:
    1. The three touring felt a little less refined in the noise and road buzz department. Probably due to the tire difference.
    2. The three's smaller screen seemed much more user friendly, probably because it's more similar to mine.
    3. I would take a hit on fuel economy going from the PiP to the three.
    4. The three surprised me with its eagerness to be in EV at higher speeds and throttles than the gen 3 cars.
    5. I would rarely need gas with the Prime.
    6. The Prime was a hoot to drive even with the alien user interface. It would take some learning!
    7. Both were a little more comfortable and a lot quieter than my PiP.

Overall experience? Well it's obviously not a thorough road test, but on a scale of 1-10, I'd give the three touring an 8.5 and the Prime Premium a 9.5. But the three touring is $3,000 less expensive. Sigh!
