I am dealing with the same process with my daughter car 2005 Prius with a hundred forty Thousand Miles that just moved here from Puerto Rico and I'm up in to change the batteries out and one of the other priuschat members gave me this heads up on new Prius batteries that cost these prices

Just found a dealer who beat Camelback Toyota (Phoenix, AZ). The cheapest price for an OEM HV Battery is now, $1699.70, Conicelli Toyota, Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, 19428. Beats Camelback Toytoa (Phoenix, AZ) by $103.46 ($1803.16 - $1699.70 = $103.46)

don't know if this helps but I can tell you it's not hard to change the battery I've done it before.

Did youyget a written or verbal confirmation direvtly from the dealer. (Not just a post on their part website)
While appreciate these posted prices found on the internet it would be more helpful it was confirmed either in person, via phone, or in an email.
Sometimes things get posted automatically on dealer's parts sites, but there are all sorts of "gotchas" when anyone tries to actually order it.

Yes I did get a confirmation from the dealer and ordered it online with them and went to pick it up today. I'm enclosing a picture of the receipt that I got when I picked it up. 20181017_233153.jpeg

That is actually a very good price ($1699) for a NEW battery that will last at least 8-10 years, probably longer, with no further worries.

At the end of the day, you still have an OLD battery that will last an indeterminate period of time, but certainly will not last another 10 years. Granted your solution is cheaper. But you get what you pay for.

    Horses for courses.

Woo hoo, no sales tax too!
Glad to have been able to point you in the right direction (Cornicelli) and out of State address for the lack of tax.

Love you buddy. You remind me of the conspiracy guy Kinglew, Lewking, or something like that.

    Expensive is relative.
Amortize the cost over the likely life expectancy of 10years, then it might not be so expensive for you.
    $1699/10years = $169.90/year = $14.16/month = $3.54/week = $0.51/day
Give-up 3 Starbucks latte a month, for the next 10years, you just paid for this HV Battery.

Your Prius was out of service for 4days (possibly longer). Maybe you have a spare car to use? Maybe the Poster's daughter would have to rent a car for 4 unnecessary days? This would quickly reduce and eventually eliminate any "savings" rebuilding offers. BTW, when was the last time you rented a car? All the fees and taxes make vehicle rentals expensive.

Remember, this HV Battery was for his daughter (speculated to be a grown adult, >18 years). I'm sure every caring parent wants the best for their child (no matter the age).

Yes, cost is important. But I speculate most people will willing pay a little bit more for reliability.

I had already done that twice for her in the last 2 years and I found out that once you replace some and charge balance, then others start to go. Now, since she and the car have moved to the states from PR, I thought it better to do it this way once and forget about it, so I don't have fly over here from Puerto Rico to work on it every time it needs it. Plus when I rebuilt with used cells, they cost $40 or $45.00 plus shipping and this one, the cells cost $60 no shipping no tax very nice and all brand new. Thank exstudent and you all again for all your help in finding the best solution for the best price.

I've learned a lot. Battery balance is the key. To making it last.
But see your point. But for me in 10 years there other repaired that need to be done the brake problem are $$$ too. And bearing CV joints dash lights if you don't repair them your self they cost a lot and in 10 years I think I want a newer car too
My kids all have Prius so repair is Justified it for me to tool up to do all this. And there Prius are cheap here with bad battery about $1000 I paid $3000 for this one drove years without a problem. Screenshot_20181018-063316_eBay.jpeg

Understand your point also. I have four and. That is why I purchased the Hybrid Automotion Prolong Battery Charge and discharger. I can deal with the others at home in PR but beacuse my daughter moved up here it was best so I didnt havr to come up any time there was a problem
The car incidentally runs now like my wifes 2015, lime new and afyers testing on highway is now back to 50 to 55 miles per gallen wher before it was 38 to 42 depending o. How you drove. Most importantly, no more throwing codes so dont have to worry about it anymore and the car will last as long as she wants it as it is in perfect condition. Thanks for your input though.

I went into a puddle of water and suddenly a fault code appears p0a80, could the water have touched something from the end and maybe a fuse or something?

Just trying to clarify the world "many".

    5 years? 4 years? 3 years? Less?

    And what about miles?
    20,000? 10,000? 5,000? Less?

    Lavi2005,
Would have to do additional diagnostic to see why you are getting p0A80.
If you got it because of a puddle there would have to be something exposed that normally is supposed to be protected.

Open your hood and see if the fuse box lid is in place. Often I see them out of place.
