Chrome Fuel Lid??

    Ok - I know its a bling-bling item, but has anyone seen or heard of a chrome lid like the one they make for the MX5?

    I would LOVE to see something like this on a Black Prius. Anyone have an idea of who might make one let me know!

    I saw the one on the MX5 and started thinking that it would look NICE on a black Prius, and because I seem to have this uncanny ability to pour gas all over the lid when re-fueling...

    Maybe I just need a big chrome funnel instead. :p

    Actually I wanted one that looked alike the MX5 version. I don't think that there is one out there like that, but I am going to contact the manufacturer of the MX5 one and see if they could do it for me.

    A chrome fuel lid on a Prius seems ostentatious and inappropriate. As we approach 2008-2009 and PHEVs (plug-in hybrid vehicles), we want to minimize the use of fossil fuels and emphasize the plug-in, renewable aspect.

    Ack! yeah!....Don't be a sour puss... I Have my Prius! go Preach to someone that doesn't have one! We're all believers in some way or another. It can't hurt to have a little Bling right? I mean if we were serious about bling we'd probably get some IS300 or G35... or god forbid Q45... Nothing wrong with 'sprucing up' your look.

    One more reason for me is that there are soooo soooo many where i'm living! Five minutes will not go by that you don't see a Prius! PersonalizE that's what i'm doing!

    Edit: I forgot to ask you Skruse. What do you think about the Kenstyle, GT, or Solo Prii? They look 'Blinged' a bit... not to your taste?

    Now that I think about it, the chrome fuel lid might not be a bad idea. We Prius drivers fill up so rarely that it would be easy to forget where the fuel goes! :D

    Hmmm... Yes, I suppose the idea of having the chromed fuel door on the Prius is in fact a tad bit ostentatious - but considering I don't care about being ostentatious and/or inappropriate, a natural trademark of my fantastic personality (not to mention I am as humble as a bumble) it is what I want.

    I like a bit of bling on my car, and didn't think making all the emblems on the car 'gold' or getting the chromed pieces gold plated seemed a bit too much bling, so I am compromising and looking at getting the fuel door chromed.

    I think after that - I am going to blow out the engine and put in a 550 HP big-block Ford engine, dump the batteries and add in nitro boosters.

    Should help when I am speeding to work every day. :lol:

    I once chromed some side cowls off an old Vespa. I had to remove, strip/sand down to bare metal and then drop it off at a plating place. Look in the phone book under electroplating or chrome... you may find a place that will do a small job.

    Ask your local custom motorcycle shop. The guys who do parts for choppers are used to wanting various bits and brackets chromed, and will know of a plating shop that can do the job. I don't know how much something like this would cost, it's been a while since I had something chromed.

    almost any plating shop can do chrome for you, but, most do gold as well, and if your looking for bling, the peons have chrome bling blingers have gold.

    I saw a black Prius with chromed wheels the other day and it looked pretty spiffy. A crome fuel lid could look good.
