Thought it would be nice to share a little success story.

My 2007 Prius got the triangle of death a couple years ago with 165,000 miles. Rather than buying a new hybrid battery, I decided to roll the dice on the reconditioning method and purchased the deluxe reconditioning pack from Hyrbrid Automotive. @ericbecky was a big help in helping me get the right parts and giving me a little guidance getting it done.

I expected the battery to be a continuing problem, but I have run the simple reconditioning cycle every few months, and nearly two years later the car is still running great with no issues at 184,000.

The only disappointment in my case is that MPG is way down from before the cell replacement (used to be in the low 50's, and is now high 30's). The battery seems to always stay in the 2nd and 3rd from highest charge states and never varies from that, so it does seem something has changed as the cells have aged, but I'm just glad it's still going strong! The battery reconditioning is the only maintenance I've had to do on it in 6 years of ownership and 80,000 miles.

Thanks to everyone who is a resource here!

Thank you for sharing your experience :).

I’ve been reconditioning our 2010’s battery for 2 years now too and happy I have as the battery performs like new;).

    Some questions about your situation:
    • How many cells did you replace?
    • Have you had to replace any more after the initial replacements, if applicable?

Thanks again for sharing your experience (y).

Just replaced the one cell that was bad... haven't had to do a thing since then besides the Prolong charging/discharging cycle a few times a year.

So you are getting mpg in the 30s? And before it was in the 50s?

I’m wondering if the OP changed the iridium spark plugs yet? If not that service is past due and that might explain why fuel economy is poor.
