indentation under gas pedal where my foot sits

I own a 2012 Prius V model 3 with 55k miles. If I can keep the car until 2023, I will be able to say that I went 30 years with 3 cars. I might be cheap. At some point when I own a car long enough I start getting a divot under the spot where I rest my right foot. In my Prius, I can see what looks like styrofoam under the hole in the floor mat. Hence, as the months tick by, my foot sits lower and lower.

Has someone else had this problem and solved it? What should I use to fill the hole. Once I do i will probably by new floor mats for the cars, since the car is generally in good shape. Any reasonable advice about what to do with the divot would be very appreciated.

    Thanks.

best thing would be to get in there, cut the bad piece out, measure the proper thickness and look for some rubber/styrofoam/plastic etc. that would work, and cut a piece to fit

^ Yup. Probably not worth the hassle of a full replacement carpet- that's expensive and difficult. But if you cut out a square and replace it with a square of carpet + padding, that'll do the trick. You can probably get it from a junkyard car.

    Just an idea...
Looking at the dead pedal my 16 has a rubber/ plastic surface panel on it.
Could you find this part and sew it to the floor mat so you are an artistically matched set?

Any divot wear under the floor mat, into the carpet and padding...that should be easy enough to level out
with the ideas above or some other idea. I would not replace the entire carpet.

    Good luck.

It sounds like I need to shove some rubber/styrofoam into the hole, cover with a thin piece of plastic, then over with new weather tech floor mats. I'm not worried about making anything look new, I just don't want to wear out the new floor mats earlier than necessary. Thanks everyone.

Have you considered taking your spurs off while driving?
