When I brought the car the smart key, radio, dome lights, and half the dash does not work, the key fob still starts the car so the immobilizer is working with the key. I only need to fix the smart key function and I have tech stream, I would appreciate guidance in trouble shooting this issue. Thanks.

And make sure the battery is the correct size. It should be CR2032 but if you took it somewhere and they didn’t have one somebody could throw in a CR2016 and it might work but would be 1/2 the normal thickness. That could cause problems.

1: I have tried SKS button on the steering wheel but regardless I would think it would only affect SKS feature and not remote lock and unlock?
2: I'll chech the fob battery skibob recommended and get back to you guys on the forum.
3: I replaced the 12V due to leaking with a new AGM battery which is charging and discharging normally.
4: I will also order a new fob to rule that out, but if it is not the FOB or SKS control module, could it possibly have to do with the combination meter?

i don't know if there is a connection between the meter and sks. there are lots of threads here on fob programming and tech stream. see if you can find any through search. best way is google and priuschat hits.

    I’ve been doing that

I don’t want to end up w a dead vehicle

As long as I can keep the immobilizer happy I’m okay

It’s strange to me the items that aren’t functioning are tied together in a way I wouldn’t expect

I also have a flakey combo meter - and totally unworking radio dome and sks

I tried soldering a few boards on mfd to see if it was a bad joint but no change

I have no power to many fused components under hopd fuse box

I have 12v at jump point
No visually blown fuseable link (long clear fuse)

Don’t see damaged harness or any loose wires out of the underhood box

Interior side I checked and swapped a few common relays out-

    Possible bad power distribution module?
    I bought one to check-

But mfd will rule out at least the radio functions
I still have hvac and no sluggish movement or screen taps

    Sorry
    Long post

So you installed a new Combination meter with the new mfd? I checked my key remote's battery and it is the correct type, I have replaced the 12V battery with a AGM which seems to be functioning like I said in the previous post. My next two steps are to order a new fob remote from ebay for around $60 and program it through techstream, which I suggest that Knightrider do as well, last thing I need is the only key recognized by the immobilizer dying. I have also checked the fuse to my dome lights and the dome fuse does have power.

I think this means that some where between the circuit to the dome fuse from the fuse box either a wire has eroded/grounded or the dome light fuse has something to do with the combo meter and the meter soldering has failed...

Where in the world are you getting a new SKS key for $60???????????????????? Are you sure it's not a non-sks?

Most likely non-sks, it's just gonna be a back up key, but I am assuming the door lock/unlock button should still work? Along with the immobilizer transmitter??

Since the door lock/unlock or SKS features do not work on my current fob, I figure with a new non-sks FOB if the door unlock/lock buttons work, I can at least confirm the old fob is defective.
