Looks like they just cleaned TPMS sensor and re-installed it. Let us know if it fails in short time. If it does, it sure means it is not compatible with Goo Toyota provides.

... and should therefore be covered under warranty.

For OP's case maybe, but if it happens outside of warranty period, I doubt they will cover it.

True, but they should since the goop is obviously defective.

I have never used Goop in a a tire but I used this stuff in my wife's lawnmower tire that has leaked for years and just a little of it sealed it.
The only trouble with this is it does not inflate the tire, you still need an air compressor.

I hope I never have to use it on a car tire but it does work.

There is no reason to use the goop when you can have the car towed for free. Just have it towed to any tire shop, or if Toyota demands you tow it to a dealer do that.

It will still be cheaper to buy a tire from a dealer (many of them price match) than to pay the labor to have all that junk you put in the tire cleaned out. Most cases the tire could have been patched for $20 if you hadn't put in the chemical.

I would only use the goop if it was life or death, otherwise, call a flatbed tow truck.

    1. Some our cars are out of warranty.
    2. Some of us do not trust our Toyota dealers.
    3. The tire warranty is from the tire manufacturer, (Bridgestone, in my case) not Toyota. That is clear in the documentation you received with the car.
    4. Since the tire warranty is not from Toyota why would towing be free?

Do you have roadside assistance as part of your insurance company? Towing is free at least for me, up to 9 miles. Roadside assistance including towing costs me $2.50 every 6 months from Geico. The cost goes up to around 7 dollars for a much older car.

Also, during the first 2 years/25k miles Toyota offers free towing to the nearest dealer. https://www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/toyotacare.pdf

So you get free towing to the dealer to pay for a tire repair or pay for towing to a tire dealer hoping for a warranty repair.

Either way, it is not free.

    Yep.
My concern would be that it does seem they just cleaned the sensor and reinstalled. Then are saying they aren't sure how damaged the sensor might be.
Also, upwards of $300 to replace one tire seems very expensive.

This will just go on like an oil thread, so use the goop, use your phone, install/use a spare or buy a different car. The decision/choice is made by the owner and all designated drivers live with it.

I actually called Toyota's roadside assistance. They said it would take 35 minutes to get someone out to me. Sent me the confirmation, and they were sending a locksmith, not a tow truck. By the time I realized, I had already changed out to my spare. I should have called AAA.

Side note: I think relying on towing only isn't the best if you're out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

Unfortunately I work at a university. I automatically figured it out because typing the wrong word is rampant here at times.

If you're going somewhere, with a spare, get a flat, odds are very good you'll get to your destination, with little interruption. With a tow instead, your life is going to be very disrupted.

Even on a long trip. at least the spare can take you to where you can get help.

My son had a blowout on an interstate with his Prius v during a long trip home from a dog show. The spare got him to Walmart where they were able to replace the tire so he could make it home. He then replaced all 4 tires with better new ones since the other old tires were worn anyway.
