When cleaning the Blower fan, is their any benefit to adding a graphite or silicone Lubricant to reduce spindle friction? Thanks.

I replaced mine with a second hand one from a vehicle wrecker. The old unit didn't come apart really well and was very worn in bronze bushes so replace was an easier option to repair. I did soak the felt pads in the bronze bushes with some motor oil before fitting the replacement unit and that seems to have been good enough, virtually silent at lower speeds rather than sounding like it was trying to escape and attack via the vents

The friction comes from the impeller wheel outside. Eventually it starts rubbing the housing and making noise due to contact.

Its not really a serviceable unit and they are fairly inexpensive to buy. If you were going to lubricate a motor spindle you would probably want to use a 3 in one drip oil, but in this case I don't see it really doing anything.

Thank you for your responses. I wasn't sure if a dry or a wet lubricant would be applicable, since either could collect foreign particles thru adhesion or static.
