2007 Prius 114k miles weird grind/roar type noise

    Hi Folks, today my 07 Prius started making this odd noise that I can only describe as an intermittent dull roar and I can feel vibrations as the sound happens. It only happens for a second or two at a time while the car is turning a certain way. When I got the car home I noticed an odd smell, not sure if it's rubber or metal. Any thoughts before I take it to be looked at tomorrow?

    that's usually a constant velocity joint. they are at the end of each front axle and allow the wheels to turn, while spinning.
    climb underneath and inspect the rubber boots for cracking and leaking lubricant to determine which side.

    Thanks. Had it looked at and front right wheel bearing is just starting to go. Having it fixed Tuesday, but wondering if I should expect the other 3 to follow?

    possible, but unlikely. they will if you keep the car long enough

    I had only one of four wheel bearings replaced 200K miles ago.

    Lost my front drivers side wheel bearing at 30000 miles 12 years ago when car was new it was fixed under basic car warranty but have not lost another in 12 years. Makes me think production issue of that bearing.
