There were 5 other primes there, but none in Blue;).

Our Prime was plugged in next to a RAV4 hybrid:).

Looks good and from what @The Critic says, it gets 43 mpg when test driven(y).

    In EV, I can:p.

There is much more pep than our 2010;).

Just a much better car and one you could push to the EV limit of 82 mph and enjoy(y).

I was impressed with my 2008 Prius and was pleasantly surprised when I bought my last one that it had been improved so much. I'm sure your love affair with your new Prius will start all over again Ray.

    Oh absolutely :).

I thoroughly enjoyed our 2010 (and still would have were it not for helping someone out) and planned on keeping it for another 4 or 5 years and pilling on another 100-150 k miles to 350k;).

But no I get to start over and see what I can do with this one. Hope I can contribute positively to the community (y).

    Here’s tonight’s ride home:

    And the total commute:

Not bad for the first commute in the Prime(y).

Seeing it in the 200’s makes me wish we had gotten the ‘18 Prime, but just got a better deal on the ‘17 so couldn’t pass it up. Ours caps out at 199 displayed.

Ray, which dealer did you buy from? And how much if you're willing to share?

Concord Toyota through their internet sales manager Kelli. We started with the Costco Auto Program as the reason to go there but we got the price even lower by calling other dealers and settling at under $26 k before taxes and fees:).

I feel we did pretty good(y).

Interesting: Last I checked — admittedly a while back —our (2017) P.Prime’s mileage numbers “peg” at 199.99. Maybe they changed that recently...?

Yeah, only 2017 model has 199.9 limit. Starting in 2018 has 999.9 limit.

    Much more appropriate, I think!

(Edit) Granted, though, such numbers are a little ... artificial ... since they don’t take charging into account.

As with many of us, ideally, I’d prefer it to separately and continuously tally MPG and miles/KWh numbers (i.e., continuously update the ongoing MPG tally whenever we’re in HV, and continuously update the ongoing miles/KWh tally whenever we’re in EV).

Actually, best I can tell, it does do so for miles/KWh, but not for MPG. I guess they like flaunting big MPG numbers!

I really like the RAV4 2019 hybrid as well. If I am lucky and at the end of the year I can swing it, I may get one.

A subtle reminder as to why to switch:

    D1AFC72D-A25B-4111-B209-EC4569F8F3A5.jpeg

Not bad for the ride to work;).

The battery level fell to 1% as I pulled into my charging spot:).

    Excellent planning (y).

38-some-odd miles? Wow, that’s excellent! I have never seen that high a number on the Guesstimatron, not even when our Prius Prime was brand new! I can’t recall ever seeing a number higher than ~35.

As I alluded earlier, ours had been hovering around 32ish, and then plummeted in two distinct steps to ~28-29ish, then down to 25ish, where it stayed for most of a year. That, with a corresponding reduction in actual KWh charged into the battery, from around 6.2KWh, down to 5.6ish, then down to sometimes as low as 4.4ish.

That drop occurred when I was charging for quasi-free (on Austin Energy’s $1/week all-you-can-charge program) on the way home from work, and leaving it mostly charged overnight. I strongly suspect that the charging algorithm feared for reduction in battery life (reasonably or not) and responded by increasing the top charging margin.

I’ve been charging mostly right before leaving each day for many months and KWh/charge has gone up again recently. Again, it was a distinct jump up. It’s bounced back now to about 5.6KWh/charge, with ~30 on the GOM.
