    Sorry, I completely missed this.....

I’m sorry to hear your PiP got ripped off as well

Equally horrified the you called the Police and they couldn’t be asked.

Prius owners are clearly under siege in London now .

And law enforcement are refusing point blank to protect us.

Unfortunately seems so it would probably be easier for some Prius chat members to set up one but what to do with the culprits?

The police are busy with the climate change protestors arresting them and dropping them back after being watered and fed to the nearest bus or train station to rejoin their gang.

If you catch them your probably going to get done unfortunately.

I’m hoping that one of those jacks accidentally slips or fails

One reason that police are not over enthusiastic for these crimes is the knowledge that even if they catch the culprits the chances are that the heaviest sentence will be 6 months in a UK prison which according to my friend who has visited prison cells as part of her job, are better than the rooms that we recently stayed at on holiday! Imagine what prisons are like in Somalia , Rumania etc so not exactly a great deterrent.

I have been using Hills, Woodford since buying my car about 8 years back. They always used to recommend an air con service and brake oil change which I had done once. Neither were listed as a requirement in the service manual. For about 4 years they have been advising me that I need new discs and pads. Finally on my most recent mot (at a different garage ) they suggested the rear pads will need attention in a few months. The discs? They are fine with some slight surface scratches . They will not check the traction battery because they can't identify a small circuit connected under the dash. I have no idea what it is but I can't imagine that it's connected in any way to the traction battery. As mentioned earlier they told me that they had just failed a Prius mot because the replacement cat did not meet emission standards.

    Thanks for the update Mathewjg.

I guess there might be some badly designed rubbish catalytic converters on eBay available for sale super cheap. As long as there’s a market, this kind of rubbish will sell - and make the sneaky manufacturer a tidy little profit.

I sincerely hope my Prius with it’s Klarius CAT passes its emissions tests come October this year, otherwise my insurers will be out of pocket installing an OEM cat......which to be honest - I really no longer want under my vehicle.

At the rate we’re carrying on in London, it’s only a matter of time before Prius owners are getting stabbed, by thieves trying to steal their vehicles just because there’s at least £1,000 of precious metals they can harvest from the CAT.

It’s only a matter of time

    Very depressing indeed!

Where’s Frank Castle, a.k.a. The Punisher (Marvel, Netflix), when you really need him?
I’d pay good money to watch The Punisher mete out summary justice to these shameless vermin. It would be sweet to hear them screaming and wailing like the B(bleeeeep)s they really are, while they’re made to atone for their crimes against the innocent.

It’s about time someone.....anyone, went medieval on their collective hind parts, since our law enforcement don’t give a proverbial flying foxtrot about how these gutter dwelling parasitic dross brazenly take what they want from the honest law abiding hard working citizens of this city, with malice afore thought.

How happy I’d be to hear they were accosted by unknown persons while ripping off yet another Prius and all got coldly plugged on the spot.

I’d be the happiest being on the planet and wouldn’t harbour the slightest bit of pity for them. No I wouldn’t! Their unchecked criminal antics are now enough to drive your average mild mannered person to turn to the dark side of the force, and become another Palpatine!

At the rate they’re carrying on, sooner or later, a Prius owner is going to die or be killed; directly or indirectly as a result of these mutha bleepers unsavoury actions.

Maybe there’s something.....or someone out there that might yet oblige us in exterminating these thieving vermin from the face of this world.....or at least the UK.

Yes, I have my fingers crossed ....!!!!

Wait, so they are targeting Gen3 now? Or is it just the plug-in variety?

Im wondering if the thieves are running out of OEM Gen2's to steal from and so now are just targeting "whatevers next" because they want to continue their gold mine fantasy.

Now youve identified a "goldmine" youll want to check absolutely every make/model of car. Hell, why not just rip the cat off every car in the street, smelt it down and see whats there.

Funny Note, while listening to LBC radio station today a woman phoned up about ULEZ and about how the government will start pushing for electric and hybrid vehicles which she says is absurd since hybrids cost "tens of thousands of pounds"

Demand for hybrids will likely sky-rocket in the coming years so getting a gen3 now might be ideal before prices go up and it will probably hardly devalue

fully electric vehicles are still decades away but hybrids will rule next 20 years

This is now getting out of hand. I am suspecting your Gen 3 was pilfered by a 'copy cat' gang of morons who wouldn't know their arse from their elbow. That is no consolation to you of course, and I am very sorry you have now become a victim of this 'victim less' crime.

So they threatened you as well saying they know where you live. Utter scum, it is almost as if THEY ARE the aggrieved party here, and your interruption of their crime was an affront to their rights. :cautious:

I may have to arm myself when I am out and about. Oh yes! Any activity around a Prius car (any Prius car) shall fall foul of my response. My pea shooter will be ready and (let me assure you) fully loaded!! :coffee::(:)

Sorry to hear about what happened to your car Nick, gutting that the bastards are now targeting Gen 3 cars now. Can I ask (if youre ok to tell me) what area in South East London you live? I can give you details of a place in Welling that supply tilt alarms for the Prius, I had one fitted for £120 (a week before mine got stolen, ironically).

Perhaps the saddest part of this article in the Daily Fail Online.....Sorry, Mail, was their deeply disturbing reluctance to allow any of their readers world wide to comment on the issue.

Just one lukewarm comment was allowed and the rest were completely blocked. Almost as if they’re scared of what damning embarrassing truths might end up in the comments section of that article.

I can imagine what so many affected Prius owners would have tried to say, but, they’ve all been silenced......by the press itself. It’s enough to make you feel oPRESSed.

They DO NOT want to report the truth.

I'm dreading my renewal in September. I have informed my insurance company that there's a Catloc fitted, so hoping that makes a difference.

I wonder if I’ll get a nice discount for having a Thinkware F800 Pro 2 channel dash cam fitted, along with a custom built catalytic converter security cage underneath The Spaceship.

Higher premiums for us means more insurance premium tax for the UK Government. So basically, they’re profiting off these criminal attacks on our Prii - which are happening because they cut Policing budgets to the bone in the first place - thereby making it easy / possible / lucrative for these vermin to embark on their crime spree on UK Prii.

Yup! Crime pays. Even for our Gubbermint!

I never got a discount for having my Transcend Dash Cam installed, so not expecting much of a discount come renewal time. paid £320 last year for my insurance, if it goes over £450 then that's what I am currently paying to be insured on a Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type UK. Lets hope not!

    Daily mail are

Was this your own one due to a claim?

Insurance going up is hardly surprising the number of claims and number of people involved. Claims agents, courtesy cars, valuers, doctors, medical staff, storage costs for cars when they are off the road. It’s shocking the amounts charged.

Prior to my Prius I had a car written off not my fault the car was worth £3000 which was paid to me but in addition to this they charged the other party insurance company £3000 so £6000 in total. This Is outrageous.

Mine went up by only £100 and I attributed this to the claim I'd put in for the theft of my catalytic converter.

To be fair, I stayed with them; they'd dealt with my claim immediately by towing my Prius for repairs AND storing it till the ordered parts arrived. They'd also provided me with a courtesy car via Enterprise (about 2 weeks) - all this the very same day that I'd called them about my unfortunate predicament.

True, I had business insurance with them and I'd paid an extra premium for a good courtesy car in case mine was temporarily immobilised, but I got immediate support and was highly impressed with their response.

That was / still is.....Tesco Car Insurance.

With the various insurance claim horror stories that I heard from some Prius owners, I came off okay, methinks.

The car rental and storage alone must have cost them a fair bit. Much, much more than my £100 premium rise.

It sounds like a good insurance company and made a bad situation bearable.
