Bought a Prius last week, so new to all that technology.
Driven a few times and no issue..went for longer trip yesterday and after driven around 1 hour and orange engine light came one... stopped the car for around 20 min and light disappeared. Brought to mechanic who plugged the machine but of course nothing showed up as system reseted itself as he put it and no light at that moment of inspection..
Today same story, car driving very well but after 1 hour engine light showed up again., I knew was safe to drive so drove home. Parked, came back after 20 minutes and all sorted, engine light off and ready...
Any ideas what can cause it??
Coolant and oil levels are very good.
    Thanks

congrats and welcome! how many miles on her?

check the gas cap for tightness.

you probably need a prius specific scanner to retrieve the code.

    Thanks.
    80000 miles.
I have to say I am impressed so far but all this technology it’s hard to get used to when one is used to old fashion cars.. the fact that is all in Japanese is not helping either

Yeah what @bisco's diplomatically saying, is that your mechanic doesn't have Toyota specific Techstream, is not capable of the reading the info.

There will be codes stored. Check with a Toyota dealership is probably easiest route. Or invest in a laptop and pirated Techstream.

    Thanks.
Didn’t know Toyota can do retrospective checks.. I assumed they could only find out the problem when light on showing which could be a problem in that case..
Still under warranty from dealer so would b good to find out what’s wrong and move from there, hopefully something minor but it’s not great when third time you drive your car an engine light shows up..
