    Hi
    Hey is it just my car but when I turn the fog lights on they apear to not shine very good, to be honest I can not see a diff using them at all. They apear to not be very bright and do nothing in the fog or on a clear night. Is it just mine or is the common.
    Thanks in Advance

    They're not very bright, and they're not really "fog" lights. Think of them more as accent lights that make the car look nice to other people.

    I did install brighter bulbs in my fog lamps and they're a bit brighter, but even so the functionality is extremely limited. But at least the color is closer to that of my HIDs

    As efusco said, it sounds like they are working normally. I don't know why they bothered to put them on, they are just junk.

    I went to the Toyota Europe site and it looks like over there you can get fog lights as an accessory and the lens looks different than what we get. Does anyone know of any Toyota online parts stores in Europe that woild ship to the USA?

    Yes they are crap, I can see them when they are on I just had to reajust them.. :rolleyes:

    I think they are concidered Driving lights (useless other than a gee wiz item). ;)

    I would like to have a set of aircraft landing lights in their place that would move the slower drivers over :lol: or melt their retnas.. B)

    I’ve searched but could not find any satisfactory answer;
    Do you know of a mod that would isolate the fog lights (such as they are) from the main lights so they can be turned on independently from the HID’s. ? (2006 #8) Tnx

    When contemplating the uselessness of "fog lights" or "driving lights" in North America, always remember they are crippled by law! You MAY NOT have them on without the headlamps being on in most juristictions. Several posters on other forums have been ticketed doing so (some modified the wiring, some installed aftermarket, so far I haven't read of the wiring mods required for a Prius, but I'm sure it's not hard).

    The purpose of a "fog light" is to stop reflected glare in the fog by the headlamps. It reduces the contrast of objects in the fog vs the fog. To require the headlamps to be on is ridiculous!

    Exactly.. makes you wonder who's writing the rules books. I know there are people who say "omg, you have people with their foglights on along with their headlights in broad daylight" Ya well, it's the gov'ts fault for requiring headlights to be on.

    There is a way around this rule, however. Use the foglights as DRLs. That way, when you turn on the parking light, your foglights are still on (DRLs) but the headlights are off.
