It somehow did it for me, or maybe it gave me a placebo feeling. Just saying, if you're somewhat disastisfied after the recall due to the loss of power, it'll make u feel a little better after giving it a service, since doing an oil change, and transmission drain/refill makes any car run better specially right after doing it. You'll notice it right away.

For me, the performance felt like it went back up to about 90% prior to doing the re-call.

This is just me lol. Also, you might as well perform a zero calibration reset after doing the recall and service altogether. This helps the computer recognize the changes in performance and gives our car a more synced in feel and everything works together. Again, this is just me. Good luck with ur decision if u do the recall, and consider my advice if you're somehow dissapointed after the recall.

Last thing,if your car is on the higher mileage side, might consider doing a tune-up as well (new spark plugs). Good luck man.

Another possibility is it can be easy to form spurious conclusions about MPG over limited times or distances, and if you form one that looks lower, and then do something, and form another that looks higher, it feels good.

    "placebo" is the word. :)
I've already done all the egr, plugs, trans, coolants, etc. on my Prius. It was all very easy.
I turned 160,000 miles last week. I've had no problems with it.

So are you a recall doer or not? did you notice any difference after doing the recall?

I've not done any of the recent recalls yet. I alway wait and see if they cause any damage to those who have done it.
    Eventually I'll have them done.
From reading here, several people are dropping about 4mpg after getting one of the recalls. Some seem to "get them back"
after they've driven "X" amount of time. Maybe the computer is resetting or recalculating something.
I would prefer to do them myself so that I KNOW they will be done correctly, but that's not possible.

Just posted my dismal results after software modification. Should be up soon. Big mileage drop.

I've got a 2010 with 17" rims, and the last tank has been kinda stubbornly low mpg (higher liters/100Km). I got the (latest) update done Feb 20, about 1400 kms back. At least a couple of fillups since.

Juries still out though: I also switched over (from Michelin X-Ice snows in 195/65R15) to Michelin Primacy MXM4, brand new, and that could well be a factor. Plus, we've been on a tank for about a month now, in short: very low usage, lots of short trips.

And, dragging my heels so long to refill, could be lingering "winter gas issues".

So I really can't jump to conclusion yet. I'll do a fill-up in the next week or so (and even it so it's barely half a tank), and will put in a dose of fuel injector cleaner while I'm at it, see how that goes.

For the record, current tank is displaying at 5.3 liter/100km right now, which likely means 5.6 calc'd., which translates to 42 mpg, not so good...

So I’m two days after the update on mine. Indicated MPG is holding steady at 49.0. Maybe a .1 or .2 fluctuation. But it swings positive and negative.

I do believe that my car has “different” throttle response. On lite throttle, it’s not as fast to respond to input, but half or over, it seems more responsive. It is rainy today, and it seems the car is now more likely to spin the tires on wet pavement. Just gut feelings and zero scientific evidence to prove it.

The original object of the update was to "soften" sudden punches of the accelerator, IIRC. That was causing electrical flow through the inverter to peak so suddenly it was stressing soldered connections.

The original owner of mine had the E0E update done, then 90 days or so later, the inverter was replaced under F0R. I’m sure any “damage” that would have caused the inverter to fail had already been done, but I guess we shall see in about 3 months.

Just occurred to me: a big chunk of the driving on this tank was getting the grand kids to their schools. One of those schools, well...: city planners brilliantly located it at the tippy top of a long and steep hill.

    Completely off-topic, but anyhoo:

    The route:

    upload_2019-4-25_14-46-50.png

    The elevation difference:

    upload_2019-4-25_14-47-56.png

An average grade of 7.5%. Two schools at the top of the hill, so tons and tons of cars climbing and descending that hill, 5 days a week, maybe 40 weeks out of the year.

If you're in California and don't get this safety recall done, you're not able to renew your registration.

Thought I’d post a post-reflash update after 4 tanks of gasoline(E0). Gas mileage is holding at 52-54 mpg average over the course of a tank, 90% in town driving 40 mph or less. That’s measured gallons added/miles. The display is +1 mpg. Overall I have not seen a negative with mine.
