    Hello All
We are retiree's and we are in mourning over a 97 Honda Odyssey that finally bit the dust at around 200k miles. We had it 19 years and it was the most trouble free car that we have ever owned.

We began looking for a replacement for the Odyssey which in 97, was a small 4 cylinder station wagon. Since we don't buy new cars, I wanted to stop at the local Nissan dealer and look at a used Leaf. My wife was interested in visiting the Toyota dealer to look at a Prius. We arrived at the Nissan dealer first only to be told that they didn't have a used Leaf on the lot.

The salesman said that he could call down to the new car building next door and have someone show us a new Leaf so that we would could get an idea of what it was like. I was moving our car down to the new car lot and my wife was walking down and taking in their used car inventory as she went. She spotted a white Prius V on their lot.

The gal from the new car dealership had begun walking up to assist us and she introduced herself to my wife. She asked my wife if she was interested in the Prius. My wife said that she was and asked if it was possible to park it next to a Leaf so that we could compare them side by side. The gal said she would be happy to do that.

Once we started comparing them side by side, the Prius V had more room in every dimension and was just a little smaller than our 97 Odyssey. A hybrid is probably a more logical next step for someone who has always driven ICE vehicles rather than switching to a full electric vehicle. We bought the Prius and are very happy with it.

One surprise was that the right front hubcap had a bit of curb rash on it and I removed it to sand and paint it. I discovered that there were aluminum wheels under the hubcaps which was more to my liking anyway so I took the rest of the hubcaps off.

Being a retired electrical engineer, I installed a ScanGuage so that I could see what was going on under the hood. (traction battery amps, water temperature, state of charge and RPM). It is really an amazing drive train. My wife could care less about the technical details as long as it has a radio and gets her to her destination.

Hopefully it will be a great replacement for the car we gave up.

    Congrats and welcome.
My son bought his 2015 Prius v new to replace his trouble-free 2005 Prius. After he bought his first Prius he got involved in dog shows and dog agility. He wanted more room than the old Prius.
Toyota improved the body in 2015 to score better in crash testing.
Due to his Prius experiences I bought a 2017 Prius. Our salesman still has his 2001 Prius.

We haven't been able to consume a full tank of gas yet. I will let you know once that happens. Our old Odyssey got about 20 around town and 25 on the road. I know that this one is going to be much better than that.
