    Hey everyone!

This morning when I went to leave for work, I turned the car on and backed out of my garage as normal. Got out of the car to shut the door and when I got back in the dash display (speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, etc) were all dark. I thought I had accidentally shut the car off out of habit before stepping out, so I pressed the power button but that did shut it off. Starting it up again yielded the same result, but I noticed I could still drive as normal so I went ahead and drove to work. During the time, I noticed the turn signal arrows still worked and the center screen was still operating, but wouldn't display fuel consumption.

I researched a bit before posting this and from what I've found has suggested that the combination meter is the problem? If so, could anyone tell me what the estimated cost would be to have this replaced and also if this is something that I would be able to replace on my own for less cost? I'm not an auto mechanic by any means, but I've made many repairs on my vehicles in the past so hopefully I can add this to my repertoire lol.

    Thanks for any help.

Lots of info in this thread. combination meter repair - DIY | PriusChat You can also find other people selling repaired Combo meters on Amazon with good ratings. I'm in the process of looking to replace mine as well since about once a month I lose the Combination meter for about a half day to day before it comes back.

Is driving in this condition harmful to anything else in the vehicle until I can get it repaired?

I think I'm going to go with the many suggestions to contact Matt at Texas Hybrid Batteries and order a rebuilt part. Now my question is, once I get the new CM how difficult is it going to be to access/replace the old one? Does anyone have a link to an installation video or tutorial?

Bilkes, Look at the first video in Post #192 from the link in my previous response. It is a 28 minute video on removing the part from the dashboard. (From what I hear it is likely to take quite a bit more time than that. :)

I forgot to mention. You asked about further damage from driving it around like that. As far as I know, no worries. Only thing to be careful of is how far you are driving without the speedometer/odometer. You will have no idea if you are getting ready to run out of gas or not. That is why I drive with a Garmin in the car and reset the trip odometer on that when my dash goes out.

Awesome, thanks for the help. I'll get the part ordered and get it swapped out!

    Keep us posted.

How about doing a write up with or without pictures, if it moves you.
