    Hi folks-
Our beloved 2008 second generation Prius has finally been put to rest. We are looking at a 2015 Prius V Wagon with 58k miles on it.

For some vehicles, this kind of mileage might be high, but what about for these hybrids? Is that an acceptable level of mileage with lower risk? They're asking $14,500 (via dealer) and when I look at newer ones, they're about 5k more for about 5-6k more in a used sedan ~2017, with only about 10k miles less.

Also, any opinions about this particular year/model? Seems like it's pretty well ranked in most categories, but actual experiences and opinions are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

just report your post and ask a mod to move it.

if it is a one owner, no accident vehicle, and it drives like new, i would go for it. 60,000 miles in 4 years is the upper end of average.

    all the best!(y)

My family has 2, one 53k miles and one 80k plus. No real expensive work on either. I don't count oil, tire rotations or scheduled maintenance. One very rare (so rare it is the only one reported in a google search) problem covered under power train warranty. My daughter in law bought hers based on my experience and her husband's with a 200k+ Prius hatchback that just made a 250 mile trip to DC and back and regularly travels 80 miles a day commuting.

Based on my 2012, I put together this based on lots of owners postings. It covers the good and the bad feedback people were giving mostly from this forum.

I'm glad I bought my v, would consider a Toyota hybrid again.

IMO, the biggest problem with the 2015 Prius v Two that you are considering is that its halogen headlights were rated "Poor" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. "Poor" is the lowest of the four rating categories. The IIHS didn't rate the Prius v headlights until the 2016 model year but the 2015 headlights are the same. The LED headlights on the 2015-up Prius v Five without the Advanced Technology Package got an "Acceptable" rating from the IIHS. The LED headlights on the 2015-up Prius Five with the Advanced Technology Package received the highest "Good" rating from the IIHS due to it having Auto High Beam.

I haven't driven a 2015-up Prius v with halogen headlights but I've rented other vehicles that had headlights rated "Poor" by the IIHS. I've found that when the IIHS rates headlights "Poor", it means that they are inadequate to the point of being dangerous. I now check IIHS headlight ratings via my cell phone before I accept a rental car and will no longer accept a rental car that has headlights rated less than "Acceptable". The rental company agent offered me a number of vehicles last time before one came up that had headlights rated "Acceptable" by the IIHS.

IIHS ratings for the 2016 Prius v which also apply to the 2015 Prius v are at 2016 Toyota Prius v

I purchased my 2015 v 2 over a year and a half ago and it had over 150,000 miles on it at the time. Without going into all the details, I needed a car quickly and within a certain price range and had wanted a Prius for years so I went for it with great trepidation considering the mileage.

I've put almost 40,000 miles on it since and have had zero problems. Nothing leaking, no mechanical issues, last check up was told that everything looks great including the battery which was my greatest concern. Not regretting my purchase and hoping to put a couple more hundred thousand miles on it.

V's definitely the superior flavour, I'd counter them like 13k though. I picked up my Five w/ ATP a year ago, 73k for $13.2k. Hands down probably my favourite/my most prized possessions. What trim/colour is it?
