    NEED HELP!!!
I have a 2009 bad MFD needs replacing. It cannot be fixed I already tried. This Prius had option five so the MFD had navigation backup camera Bluetooth etc. etc. I was told by one person that is long as I didn’t care about the navigation I could downgrade the MFD. I definitely want to do that because I don’t use the navigation and it would save about $300 but has anyone else done this or had any luck I just want to make sure that I get a second opinion before I go out and buy one that I can’t return. My part #=86110-47260
I would have to think there is a compatible downgrade that will save me a couple hundred.

@Josephchristenson I'm in the same situation. Did you go through with this or find any additional information?

Can I ask what you ended up doing to downgrade the mfd?

I forgot which model I had but I know 2009 touring is an isolated model number. I was unable to swap or downgrade to non navigation. When I called around in california they had nothing matching my monitor and the few that did have them wanted like 500 bucks and up. Don't waste your time trying to buy and test others because I failed after like 4 different tries.

Even if you did find the best option you're looking at maybe 400 bucks from a yard if you're lucky.

There are ways you can replace it in person in sacramento or on ebay where you buy the repair voucher and mail it in so they can repair your monitor and mail it back to you. I tried this place out in ventura, ca and they were very helpful and quick with the repair. I remember paying 250 bucks and it worked like a gem still no issues now.

    downgrading only works 2004-2008.

Some 2008 and all of 2009 navigation mfd units are model specific. Yards will try to sucker you into thinking otherwise and leaving you with dead ends and shop credit. I tried for months and after 4 tries learned my lesson.

Look for mfd repair on ebay because that was the best thing for me.

    200-250 is the going rate

2009 must have been the last gasp for toyota to try and get specific models out there to possibly make an extra buck. I was able to downgrade on a 2007 before but learned soon after that 2009 is specific. I hope this reaches you in time
