The windshield wipers on my 2004 Prius recently stopped working. They stopped in a position at approximately 45 degrees. I can't move them manually. When they first stopped, they would jerk a bit, as if they were trying to move, but never leave that general position, although that stopped after a while.

When I asked a mechanic about it, he told me that those symptoms indicated a broken motor. I bought a used motor and installed it, but the wipers still don't work. I suppose the used wiper motor could be broken, but I'm guessing something else is the problem.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

I just went to the website. It's an expensive subscription. Have you found that site to be reliable in providing information? I'm a little concerned about paying for a subscription then not getting the information I need.

    Thanks!

Measure voltage at the windshield wiper motor wiring harness connector socket when the wiper switch is on. If you don’t find voltage then either the wiring harness has a problem or the switch is bad.

You don’t say so I have to ask. Have you checked the fuse?

Could the switch fail so even the wiper park would fail?
