GPS or cell, both mean eyes off the road. I think we need Ralph Nader or someone, to take a look at all the BS going into the dashes these days.

The main thing is you're ok.

Glad you wer ok after that, because your Prius looked terrible!
Saw a video once of a another Prius owner who was crashed into and walked away, because he actually went to the junkyard visit his wrecked car and thank it for saving his kife.

Well all cars are now equipped with at least 8" touch screens. So whats the difference to a cell phone. I just wonder why are those screens ok to legally use while driving? Same danger as using a cell or looking at gps while driving. But those screens are legit as we know

I looked at that photo so many times. It seems that it could get really bad if i had cars in front of me. And the fact that somehow my car was headed backward and plowed itsself into the grabble of that trench. I already have a picture in my mind of what was going on during those seconds when it was spinning

There a were additional standard safety features added in 2017 and more in 2017.5. The headlight were changed in 2017 to reduce glare and improve test ratings.

ok , im a cash guy, it was a bit hard but i ended up buying a 2016 with 90k miles for $12,000, almost 1000 miles driven, drives nice, busy on maintenance now, owner said clearly he did nothing , nothing but oil change, so i m buying all fluids , filters, spark plugs etc will do it all myself, car is smooth and quiet compare to my (RIP) 2013, just hoping not too many recalls and no egr issues

Plug your VIN into the Toyota Owners site to check on recalls. There have been a few.

    90k miles on a Gen4 :).

That’s close to an egr circuit cleanse ;).

My offer to participate stands if you want to head north(y).

Will all the passageways leading up to the intake manifold much wider, and connecting to the exhaust downstream of the CAT, maybe (and hopefully) fourth gen EGR check will be anti-climatic. Won't know till someone has a look, at least check the pipe.

@Raytheeagle . :) i cant wait for that time. should get a replacement handy
actually i am not sure that new position of egr is the answer, i might just check that egr pipe and throttle body bottom, and if i find tht egr cooler is easy to deal with, than i might just clean it too.

If it’s anything like the Prime, access is more difficult for the cooler:(.

It appears to me that we’ll end up having to either loosen or remove the inverter:cool:.

But if you do that, access is a breeze:).

Good luck with your new to you 2016(y).

I think I would of titled this thread..." I'm Still Alive! " instead of " My Car Is Totalled".
But I'm glad the OP survived.
And hope they enjoy their new Prius.

    That picture?
Wow...that's a lot of damage and impact.

Maybe the resolved the problem with the egr cooler clogging in the 4th Generation.
As you said, only time will tell! :)

Need some fourth gen DIY'rs to have a look. @Raytheeagle undoubtedly will, but with a Prime, running high percentage in EV mode, won't be that telling. Need to have a look at some regular 4th gens with a few miles.

Apparently the 4th Gen EGR is boxed in even more: ray mentioned partial or complete inverter lift out may be needed.

After the the third gen fiasco you'd think they'd consider ease of access. Guess they never heard about it.

If they make it easier to work on, you won't be bringing it to the deal to have them work on it. :)
