Anyone program a used fob sks key gen 2 before? Help!!

    Bought reseed code.
    v13 and v10 with cheap mini vci cable
    plenty of experience with cars and now techstream

    Problem:
    1. my non sks went from functioning properly lock-unlock doors to not locking-unlocking but able to turn car on
    (I've changed battery on fob)
    2. I am unable to generate the 96 character code to program a used fob key on web octupus

    I have a feeling...:
    If I can just purchase the right vci cable that will let me get the right access to program the used fob keys. Going to the dealer or locksmith is not an option as I have seen and read we can do this with the right equipment. I just need to know if I can do all of this with what I have currently v10 mini vci $25 on ebay

    If you do find a cable that works let me know. I can’t program new TPMS sensors with mine and the company I bought it from in China is no help.

    I will be buying the vxdiag upgraded version of mini cheap vci. I have heard you are able to do more things with it and will keep you posted. I have to program multiple keys for myself so calling up a rat locksmith is definitely last resort for me.

    Basically when I ran the diagnostic program on Techstream it showed 2 pins not working. The people said that’s normal for the cheap VCI cable I bought. I guess those are the pins that program things?

    That’s what I’ve been hearing as well. When you upgrade you’re able to send commands and whatnot. I was able to bleed brakes and erase codes but that’s it. When you want to add used fob keys other website videos are showing command features I don’t have on my cheap mini vci 25$. I have heard I’m limited with the cheap part I have hence why I’m upgrading here hopefully this weekend.

    I don’t know if mine could even bleed brakes. I don’t remember seeing that command anywhere.

    I was able to command it with the utility feature but then again I was version 13 with absolutely nothing to command with. I only found out about more command features like the brake bleed one when I went and linked with version 10. Version 10 with mini cheap vci is where I’m at but still not where I want to be with tpms sensor and used key fob programming. I think I will be there once I upgrade though

    No. I have been trying to figure out if I need the vxdiag or this tactrix people keep bringing up. I hesitated because the vxdiag is frowned upon by some folks and is from china.

    I seriously doubt someone in San Francisco solders that board. They probably just put it together with parts from China, or South Korea.

    Do the people bringing up the Tactrix work on Toyota’s? Looks like it’s mostly for Subaru and Mitsubishi. 2 brands I would never buy.

    Research a bit more and even the tactrix is linked back to China production lines. I don’t see much of a difference in terms of squalor you and what I want to do really. I may throw some dice this week and get the vxdiag just to be able to make more keys using used fob keys and buying reseed codes. Everything else is whatever to me

    One could buy a VXDIAG then return it because it doesn’t work for you. Even if it does. :whistle:

    I purchased a (Mini VCI Diagnostic Tool Cable Scanner for Toyota Lexus TIS Techstream V13.00.22) from ebay from user 'informatik2014' and was able to program a new (used but virgin) SKS keyfob for my 2010 HiHy last year.

    Hey, so my vxdiag arrives Saturday so I should have a response or update for you by hopefully Monday. I promise to update you on the one I bought hopefully point you in the right direction when it comes Time to upgrade.

    I'm the one who posted the review of the Tactrix. I've been satisfied with mine.

    They are plagued by counterfeits just like everybody else in the space. The counterfeits are certainly made offshore.

    The real ones might be too, for all I know ... after all, Apple is another US company that manufactures offshore.

    Still, the reason I would buy a real Tactrix (and not a counterfeit one) is that the company that designs and programs and supports it is still alive, and I want to support that. The Mini VCIs you can buy are all counterfeits, because the counterfeiters succeeded in driving the original company that made it right out of the market, AFAIK. There's no R&D or support happening there, just copying of somebody else's actual work.

    Of course the counterfeit Mini VCIs all say "XHorse Mini VCI" and the counterfeit Openports all say "Tactrix Openport" just like the real ones.

    Disclosure: I do have a counterfeit Mini VCI, from before I bought the (real) Openport. I haven't noticed any problem using the MVCI to register fobs in Gen 3 or Gen 2.

    Another thing to think about: As far as I know, both Gen 3 and Gen 2 fobs remember the first vehicle they are registered to, which means a used fob can't be bought and then simply registered to another car. The fob has to be "re-virginized" first. There are plenty of sellers on ebay offering revirginized Gen 3 fobs (or a service to revirginize one you send them). There aren't, for Gen 2 fobs, for some reason. I did ask one such provider about revirginizing a Gen 2 fob and their answer was they thought they could do it and would be willing to try if I sent them the circuit board out of one. I haven't tried that yet. It's not quite as straightforward, given that Gen 3 fobs just snap open but the Gen 2 cases are glued. If they succeed at revirginizing the board, I'll probably have to get a snap-together aftermarket case to reassemble it.

    I appreciate the response. I just need to read codes, monitor battery cells, program used fobs with reseed codes from this website. I have heard from salvage yards that guys come and buy boxes of used fobs to do the same and make more money. I have been told I just need to gain more access from the cheap mini vci and I will be successful in programming used fob keys. That being said, this is a $90 crap shoot here to see if it’s true. Worst case scenario I lose out and have a nicer looking adapter and an answer for myself and other guys in here. I need to program a lot of copy fob keys for my business so it’s worth a shot.

    I have heard that some of the mini VCI’s can program keys and TPMS sensors. The one I own cannot. I know when I go to the Techstream diagnostic it shows 2 pins not working. I would guess one of the pins does keys and TPMS
