Well this F`ìng sucks, theyre not road legal, theyre not DOT/SAE/ECE certified, so theyre illegal on the roads worldwide. What an insane price for something thats not even certified for road use... Absolute ludicrous price...

I’ve driven this commute for 8 months twice a day w/cruise control set at designated points. It was a +1mpg per tank, silly claim would be +1 mpg per trip.

And if it rains, I’ll drive in reverse the rest of the way because the rear wiper is still on. Also floor it reverse for that Italian tune up to clean the egr, no need to remove and clean by hand.

I’ve notice that anything that does a cool led sequential turn signal assembly that’s not custom designed is not DOT cert. Havent looked into yet but I bet in the DOT book is that sequential lights distract drivers and can cause accident if not with law enforcement and the use of it.

Think thats only a USA thing, since u by whatever reason still use laws from the 60`s when it comes to blinkers. That only "one" bulb can blink or if there is multiple they have to blink simontainsly. In Europe sequential turn signals is normal and legal, which is why i have the sequential mode on my Avast mirror turn signals on lol, and i think every light assembly thats certified with "E" is DOT certified aswell, and the avest turn signals (with sequential mode) for the mirror is DOT, SAE and ECE approved...
The new gen mustang got sequential turn signals in the rear since the outer light is enough to get it cleared as a turn signal, then they have just made the two inner lights, "extra" lights that doesnt serve a purpose (on paper) as turn signals at all. Even tho they do "off paper", if that makes sense
Most newer audi`s got sequential turn signals aswell, but in USA theyre not legal, so to get passed that issue they just get the brake light certified as blinkers, and keep the sequential turn signal strip as "extra" light (as the S4 and RS4).
Seems like theyve found a new way to get passed it tho, on the new E-tron (as u can see on Doug Demuro`s review) it got sequential turn signals in the front and rear, that is certified in the USA. But i have noticed a larger part of the strip lights up in beginning, like.. In the beginning of the sequential mode, instead of one by one LED lighting up, 5 of them lights up, then one by one. So it seems like theyve only gotten the 4-5 first LED`s certified as blinkers, then the 5-6 rest that lights up one and one is just "extra". Cause the European one doesnt blink like that, it starts one by one constantly, and not 5 then one by one.

No sign of Yakima Whisper Flush on the Yakima Web site, but I see them on Amazon. Strange.

I find the resume function of the cruise to be too aggressive, but like you, I drive the same route every day and only get .4 or .5mpg change over the course of a tank between cruise or no cruise. I go between 400 to 500 mpt, so only about .1 increase per hundred miles.

Of course ! Drive it in reverse!
Why didn't I think of that solution?:(

Only you don't have full power in reverse. It's strictly EV power.
You might not be able to power up the steep hills or get up to highway speeds.
But then, you don't get up to highway speeds anyway, with that MPG number.

(Still waiting for proof that EGR cleaning does anything....
My pal with +500k miles on his Gen3 has never messed with this unscheduled dikin under the hood.
I guess if you never use much power, such as yourself, and the car is an old oil burner, you might get clogging,,,
but when that happens the car will give you a code, correct?)

It isn't the sequential part that's the problem--that's perfectly legal in the US. But, FMVSS 108 specifies a minimum "effective projected luminous lens area" that must light simultaneously when a turn signal or hazard flasher is applied. So, you end up with the 2019 Avalon lighting up one non-sequential and one sequential lens, so they have the minimum luminous area displayed. The Mustang's lenses are large enough individually that only one has to light to meet the minimum luminous area requirement.

Sooo... Its the amount of light first emitted is what counts? It has to emit a certain amount of light at first "blink" (like, a certain amount of light in the start of the sequential "movement") to be legal? If that makes sense...
And well, i was right about the mustang lights atleast lol, that only one is really certified as a blinker, while the others r just extra`s.
And that would make sense with the Audi E-tron, cause it lights up 5 LED`s, then one by one after those first 5 has started simultaneously.

Yep, exactly. Our code is 40 years out of date.

Of course, this leaves aside the fact that each of the 50 states has their own definition of what constitutes a turn signal, what kind of lights a car has to have, etc. So, to sell a vehicle in the US you have to meet FMVSS regulations, but once someone has bought the car, if they want to retrofit sequential LED turn signals that don't meet federal requirements, they're free to do so if their state allows (that's how I'm legally able to drive a car with no exterior mirrors--my state requires only one mirror, and the center mirror fulfills that requirement).

Under California law, for instance (which is what started this whole discussion), turn signals are only required to "be plainly visible and understandable in normal sunlight and at nighttime from a distance of at least 300 feet to the front and rear of the vehicle...." So those aftermarket sequential turn signals/DRL are legal to use on your car.

Also according to California's vehicle code, front side amber reflectors are not required--in fact, no side reflectors are required at all for vehicles under 80" width! California Vehicle Code 2.12.24609(a) states, "A vehicle may be equipped with white or amber reflectors that are mounted on the front of the vehicle at a height of 15 inches or more, but not more than 60 inches from the ground." So, everyone running JDM clear reflectors in your headlights in California--congratulations: you're still legal!

Anybody throw caution to the wind and try some old-school hand signals? :sneaky:
