I thought I'd like to do something significant for my thousandth post. So, I've been busy in the basement all evening, modifiying my 1/34 scale Prius. Ladies and gentleman, I give you...the Prius convertible.

COOL! Marvy how the roof retracts into the former cargo area!

    Congratulations on your 1000th!

I think that's technically called a Targa haha. Imagine if that was all a retractable glass roof.

Nice! I sawed the roof completely off in my version but I like your targa approach. That would be very cool.

That would be pretty cool with a glass targa top. Total panoramic view.

    Well done and happy 1000th!

Last night I was admiring my handiwork, holding it up to the window to compare it with the real Silver parked outside. My wife could see the wheels turning, and said "DON'T even THINK about it." :)

I thought the 'targa' roof would be quite easy, as far as radical modifications go. I wanted to preserve the design's nice lines, so didn't chop off the whole roof. Yet. The softop material could roll up nicely in the tail, and ride on tracks in the roof rails. I was going to punch out the black area at the back and make a little wing out of the spoiler, with three streamlined headrests, but the WeePri design didn't lend itself to that idea so easily. Maybe when the plastic kit comes out...

Note to Alnilam: A hacksaw's going to take you forever. Try a circular saw with an abrasive cutting wheel, and just follow the lines in the roof...

It is reminiscent of the Citroën 2CV.

I think that having the whole roof be made of a retractable see through plastic would be cool. I would buy one.

Congratulations on the 1,000th post. I love the Prius Targa but with a glass roof it could get pretty hot inside! Still I would buy one! :)
