For this summer I'm getting my rear passenger and rear window tinted Limo, very dark.
Am I crazy wanting to tint the taillights and headlights as well?
    Maybe just the taillights?

Why would you even consider that?

You can tint the top 7.5 cm of the windshield, you can't touch the front side windows, you can tint the rear windows to your hearts desire.
Why dim your headlights, why possibly dim your rear lights and get hit from behind?

    Yes. Illegal and dangerous.
    Even the tinting you propose.

You probably will find that you can't SEE out the side or back at night.
Lane changes and backing out of a parking space can be a REAL challenge.
And if you are in an accident, your insurance may refuse to pay if they can blame it on reduced visibility because of the tint.

I was driving on wet, unfamiliar roads last night, lots of traffic, needing to make lane changes. Signal tint aside: limo-dark window tint, I'd pass.

I already hate the peripheral and rear visibility, as-is, with our third gen. I get the sense 4th gen window "beltline" is even more steeply raked, front-to-rear, and couple that with the hatch style, roof pillars and forest of head rests, I would never consider any degree of tint.

The lower portion of my Gen 3 rear window was tinted when I got it. I removed that after the 2 or 3rd week when I realized how poor rearward visibility was, especially at night.

Likewise, I wonder why on earth anyone would want to tint their lights to make them darker. That is one of the most ridiculous things ever to do to a car.

I see this post is a few months old.
YES.....not only is tinting the back window and lights STUPID but it is likely ILLEGAL and dangerous too.

There is an entire thread on modifying headlights and tailights. The one car that really stood out to me was the black Prius with the gold accents covering the stock chrome. Thing looked like a bee coming at ya! Anyway, I would put "Tinted tail lights" in the search bar and I thnk you find the thread.

Id rather buy some smoked valenti`s for that GEN 4. Tinting lights is just stupid... Its somethinng else if the tailight/headlight is opened and the chrome that doesnt have any funtction except for looks is painted black, as im gonna do on the headlights of my Gen 3.

In British Columbia you are allowed to tint only the top portion of the windshield up to 7.5 centimeters. Front side windows may not be tinted, but any level of darkness can be used on windows behind the driver.Mar 4, 2019

Not illegal to tint the rear windows, trucks don't have rear windows, they aren't illegal.

    Crazy....maybe.
Headlights … could always use more brightness.
Taillights … many other drivers are inattentive so any "notice of braking" could be an asset to you.

Yes but they have LARGE outside mirrors.
    That isn't a good argument.

just got a 2016. I hate the harsh white headlights and am looking into tinting them too. Not to darken, just to make them more warm/ yellowish. Or perhaps bulb replacement? suggestions welcome. These harsh white lights suck the life out of my soul.

Across the country, there are tens of THOUSANDS of people who want their headlights to be brighter.........
And then there is YOU.

I suggest that you stick with what you have.
What you propose might create a safety hazard.
    Your soul will survive.

no,no,no......not seeking safety hazard situation.....merely seeking good ole yellow /warm tinted headlights of yesteryear. (aka my 2004 prius) i dislike the harsh blueish white light of the 2016 headlights. Safety not issue. I'm ok with very bright and visible warm/yellow headlights. as far as my soul....I am strangely sensitive to light quality. So: I see you can tint headlights yellow.....not seeking full yellow, just a warmer tint. (a VERY safe warmer tint!)

    no,no, no.....you don't understand.

Any light that is "warm yellow" is putting out a LOT less light.
Safety IS an issue, whether you believe it or not.

THEN......you almost NEVER actually see your own headlights.
Why does this bother you so much ???
    Back to paranoid again.

ok, perhaps I dont understand, but it may be you. I am merely suggesting lighting -warm tint- of a few years back before. A few years back were headlights thought of as dangerously dim....not that I recall. Paranoid?? of what.? I simply prefer the 'apparently dangerous' warm lighting of say 2009. (hhmmm) Related, would never have fluorescent lights in my house. Anyway....trying to find 'warm' tint to apply....all I see is yellow-which is a bit much.

    Yes. Some were.
I think this is a BAD idea, without a real point.
But It's your time and your money.......and your extra few feet that might keep you from crashing into a deer.......
so do whatever you THINK is right for you.
