    Gonna have to give us more detail than that. Coupes and convertibles don’t count.

    from what i read in the news, they are mostly desperate types, and don't make much, but like/need the flexibility

    The 6 series ahd 4 seats in the past, but it's a Gran Coupe which puts it in a grey area where buyers may actually want a 2 door.

    The 7 series seems to be the only current model with two seats in the rear. They look real comfy; there are even flip down foot rests.

    It is also a $90k car. That puts it in the segment that I described before; buyers may not be getting it to drive it, but to be driven in it. A segment far from family car.

    Yeah but he said "ordinary BMW". I'm well aware of the Executive packages available on the the luxury limos that allow 4-seater configurations with reclining Ottomans and shiatsu massage functions.

    Most of the 7 and 6 series BMWs I see are obvious off-original-rental. They sold their cache for the rental dollars 3-5 years ago and now your next door neighbor has one.

    All the 6 and 7 series I see here are leases. 4 years after the last year of a particular generation, I no longer see them (probably shipped off to other countries where import taxes on new are high and used cars are desirable). Once in a while I'll see an old BMW (usually the classics from the 80s and early 90s but I did see a post-refresh 4th Gen (2002-2008) recently.

    A driver could minimize fuel costs by hanging out at free chargers. If charge runs out, no problem, you have gas.

    I think, these days, one of the main ways people learn about car models is by riding in Ubers. The car comes, the app tells you what it is, you get to ride in it and maybe discuss it with the owner.

    you can specify a bigger or nicer one, but otherwise? you can sometimes get a POS. They're not supposed to be bad, but we've been in a few ubers/Lyfts that were really gnarly ones. Those types often matched the drivers
    Now, "Turo"? Where you get the car you want? & the owner turns their car over to you & you drive it for as many days/miles as you need? That's a nice way to figure out what you like. Our plug-in minivan was rear-ended & while it was in the shop for 2 weeks, we got the exact same vehicle only different upholstery color. Pretty nice way to test a plugin - or pretty much anything;

    McLaren does make a plug-in, but its a little more expensive on turo than the ordinary run-of-the-mill McLaren.

    Seat belt anchors might be a problem.

    Same platform as the Prius and Corolla, the seatbelt hardpoints are probably still there under the seat.

    The middle seat will be hard and high since there is an arm rest in the middle. Then the ride share companies probably know that the pre-2020 Primes only seat 4.

    Big question why Toyota hasn't simply done that... :D

    The central (seat) holds the battery charger...
