    Hey there,

So I am about to head off and purchase my first new own car and first hybrid.

I've been sticking to used and classic cars for years. Time to change that up

a bit of a fisaco dealing with banks. I just missed Toyota 0.9% interest rates. atm my local toyota is offering 4.9%(yeah right)

Another bank was about to bait n switch. Offer me a 3.5% but then switch to 10%...

I was planning on walking away with the car. but it will have to wait till the weekend

Toyota Financial offered to beat my credit union's pre-approval after initially spitting out a crazy APR when I went in to purchase a used 2016 Prius a few weeks back. May be worthwhile to get a preapproval from your own bank before heading back this weekend.

Got it. 2019 Titanium Glow for $31,000 that's with an alarm and extended warranty.

    I'm very happy

My last vehicle was purchased through our credit union about 8 years ago. It was so easy that it was just short of making a phone call to get pre-approved. How times have changed. I applied online to our credit union for a loan of up to $20k for a used car.

I had never missed or was late on a payment on the last vehicle with them. I actually paid that car off a year early. We recently retired and our home is now paid for which should make our discretionary income look that much better yet I was asked for W2's, proof of insurance, copies of our drivers licenses and then they ran a credit report. Wow. After 10 days, I received an e-mail indicating that I had been approved.

We found a 2015 Prius V and agreed on a price. The dealer really wanted us to use their financing. I told them that I was pre-approved with our credit union and they were insistent it would be easier if they could finance the car and they offered us a loan at 5.9%. I pulled up my credit union interest rates on my phone and a 4 year loan was 3.5%. They admitted that they couldn't match that so we finally were able to move forward with the purchase.

Buying a car is like running a gauntlet. I hope that we don't have to go through that again for a very long time.

I'm picking up my first next week, a 2015 Prius II. According to the inspection I ordered, the dealer put some no-name super cheap tires on it, so I've got some new ones lined up. Other than that, it looks like I'm ready to roll. Can't wait!
