Just wondering if there was any news of successful aftermarket wiper blade installs. I used to use Bosch a lot, so any Bosch news would be super duper. I'm looking to replace front and rear before monsoon season.
    Thanks!

I use the ebay wipers for 3 bucks a piece they work great and look stock and last on average 6 months.

Are they inserts, or the whole blade? I'd like to just replace the whole blade this time if possible. Inserting the inserts was a bit of a PITA last time, but I could do inserts again if needed. I guess I could always just get the OEM ones from Toyota again.

i tried both the bosch wipers as well as getting the original inserts after my stock ones lasted 2.5 years. the bosch ones were ok at first then after a few months started degrading much earlier than i expected. so i went back to the original frame with new prius inserts even though quite tricky to get them inserted.

Agreed. The OEM inserts were a major pain to install, but I'll probably just go back to them again. They actually do last a very long time.

Rock Auto sells leftover/remaindered premium wiper blade assemblies for $2-6 apiece. I just mix and match brands a season or so's worth at a time.

At any given time our car might have a Bosch on the front left, a Motorcraft on the front right and a Trico on the back. But they work nicely and it lets me keep nice new blades on the glass for not much money. I've done this on a couple of cars now.

When the replacements are that cheap I don't mind doing them every 6-8 months. It's hard to polish out sweep tracks left by old ratty blades, so I try to prevent them in the first place.

On my PRIME, original OEM blades, which I think are the same as Gen4 blades, are still in good shape after 2 years, including harsh subzero temp NE winter freeze-up. I park my car outside. When I discovered there was no aftermarket blades available yet after I first purchased my car, I ordered a set of inserts and a set of replacement wiper blades on-line from a Toyota dealer. With both inserts and blades in hand, I can change blades quickly when needed, and replace the inserts later at leisure. But, I have not used them yet.

I find that lubricating the inserts with some Dawn dishwashing soap makes them much easier to install.

I've used Rain-X Latitudes ever since I bought my 2009 Gen II 4½ years ago. The first set was provided by the stealership, and I think I'm now on my third set, but I do the Chris Fix windshield-cleaning method (see threads passim, and youtube), which means the wipers aren't used all that much!

Are there any 3rd party blade assemblies available yet? I'm after buying sets on Amazon, Costco and Canadian tire that said were a direct fir but weren't even close. Only the rear I have managed to get a replacement. Seems the front uses some Borg technology to clip them on the arms.

For now, I have the Toyota refill installed but it's not performing how I'd like it. It leaves a streak directly in your view.

I'd really like to get silicon wipers.

It could be windshield needs cleaning; they can get a film building up. This stuff has worked well for me. I got it at Princess Auto:

    Kleen-Flo | Products - Glass Kleen

(I tried posting princess auto link but it keeps disappearing. Check their site near you; seems to be in stock.)

I prefer the Bosch single-piece beam design even though they are certainly premium priced. Used them on my previous Prius vehicles. Arizona is pretty harsh on wiper blades. I have found that I can keep a worn out pair on the car for most of the year and swap out with some fresh blades with the approach of any inclement weather. I keep checking periodically at the various outlets (Autozone, O'Reilly, Pep Boys) for any parts listing for a 2021. Nothing yet. Dealer probably has an expensive solution. A word on the prospects for a 2021 Monsoon. Not very likely. Last year was a Non-soon, and this year is looking about the same.
