And another thing! Get a roll of duct tape and some cardboard and tape off your windshield, the bottom Edge needs to be protected from all the monkeying around with engines and chains and tools and the possibility of busting your windshield lower lip. It'll take all the fun out of a successful engine swap if you have to replace your windshield because of a false move

Cut the two protrusions off, stay 1/16 away from the oil pan.

Thanks John! I started removing everything and after talking and looking at things with the inverter removed I am going to take it out the bottom and out the driver side wheel well. Other just for the sake if the harness say this is the easiest. Great tip on the windshield, it is right there with nothing to protect it.

How much did you pay for your engine?

Go to car-part.com. I got a low mile engine (118,000 miles I think) for $250. There are a few even lower for around $500 or under.

In my area, (SF bay) everything seems to be $1000 with a core exchange for anything below 100k+ mile engine.

The car has been consuming oil a bit more, and on a recent trip up to the mountains, it was blowing some grey smoke while cold. Thought it might have been I just did a recent oil change and used a bit of mystery oil in it. On checking the oil, the oil looked very clean after about 1000 miles of driving. However, it seems some oil vapors are blowing by the Oil cap. Seems like the valve cover is getting more pressure than normal? Or the cap is not sealing correctly?

I had recently replaced the cat and had P0409 errors due to a bad cat replacement. No other error since then, just some smell of oil. The water fluid is great and the oil condition is great. I guess I should get around to doing a compression test. The car has 280k ish miles on it.
