Apex I throttle controller

I have no experience to report. I only conclude based on the manufacturers own description of the device as a remapper. We also know that it sits between the pedal sensor and the next ECU in line.

As for Garm, ask him if he did a stomp the pedal to the floor test.

 

He did. He did not report times as it was an unofficial product test, so there is that as well. However, the lag is quite noticeable to anyone that has driven a car from the 90s/2000s and then has gotten into the C. So I'm sure he can tell when the lag disappears. Again, I'm not sure how it does it, maybe it turns the ICE on immediately instead of waiting, but he says it does. I've seen other people who have tried it and have said the same thing, I just don't remember their names like I do Garm.

The ICE combustion lags a bit, but the car moves like other non hybrids in its class. Better than the honda civic.

 

That is not a possible explanation. The car remains drive by wire, and no ECUs are bypassed.

 

Then I can't explain the lack of lag. We'll just have to wait and see if the OP will post numbers based on 1.2.3. Go. Hopefully he will so that we will know the difference. The lag really makes lane changes in stop and go traffic worrisome.

 

I just ordered the Smart Accel Controller and the Prius C harness. I did not see any feedback from any Prius drivers on the APEXi, but heard great things from Lexus drivers/etc. Should arrive in the coming week or two.

The A'PEXi finally showed up in the mailbox yesterday, and I installed it! Wiring was very straight forward, but it took some thought as to where to mount the parts and where to store the excess wiring without interfering with anything such as the pedals.

I gotta say that I am impressed. The seven modes all give the Prius a bit of a different drive. With the "High Throttle Mode" (red) I find myself climbing hills at ease and hitting speed limits on local and highway roads pretty quickly! While there are no gains in neither horsepower nor torque, the Smart Accel Controller really provides an experience at a click of a button which cannot be reproduced nowhere as simply with the touch of a driver's foot. When I would try to go fast or climb hills without the controller, my Prius's engine would make noises which sounded like I was trying too hard.

I feel that in conjunction with my Injen S.R.A.I. and Maxjen International performance solenoid, the A'PEXi was able to make the most of the performance upgrades, giving the car a bit more kick and a meaner growl (baby Simba -> King Simba). I didn't think I'd ever really say this (coming from driving a BMW 1 Series), but I think I'd dare say that my Prius C just got peppy!
