First, I do not like killing any animals -- and though I am no longer a vegetarian and I support rational, regulated and controlled hunting -- I do try to avoid killing anything.

I would never use a glue trap. Inhumane. I gave up using poison bait. I use Victor Tin Cat live traps, which are amazingly effective. The little mice are so cute in the traps. I know the odds of them surviving after relocation may not be optimal, but it gives them a fighting chance.

When the population soars, which it seems to have done this year, I supplement with the old style snap traps. The ones with the spring loaded bar and bait pedal. At least that is usually a quick and humane death. Caught 14 a few nights ago between the live trap and the snap traps.

My black lab usually lets me know when mice have been around. She stands at the Prius front tire and whines and points.[IMG]

I usually slightly modify the trigger on the snap traps to make them more sensitive -- which means I catch myself a lot.

I debated replying to Bisco's question about the injury. I really do not like thinking about it, looking at my arm or touching my arm anymore.

I also do not like looking at, touching or thinking about my hip, which is actually by far the more serious of the fractures. Then there is the broken tibia (shinbone), cracked patella (knee cap), black eyes, hearing damage, numb right hand, broken rib....huh, now I'm depressed.

Anyway, I'm purged of it and am moving forward. Slowly :p

No names but guessing would not be so hard. Yrs trly hangs out with forest canopy researchers, one of whom lost the gravity war and was very much disassembled. Not dead but awfully close.

She recovered slowly but completely. It's only her sensible husband who's keeping her from going vertical henceforth.

do not know why I bring that up except dang, human self-repair is amazing. Dial in some modern medicine and wow just wow.

Patience seems the hardest thing. Or maybe it's pain. Only much-broken folks know about that.

She doesn't have mice, she has temperate rain forest mini-dogs. You can tell from the shape of the pellets. Glue traps don't really work on them but the screening does.
