    If anyone's interested, one of the "non-owner"members (from Alabama) on the Tesla site that configured ~a week ago was just given his delivery date ..... and VIV.

    I looked at the list. The battery sizes are ok .. the efficiency is horrible. Perhaps as bad as the petrol efficiency, I didn't check.

    I've spotted a Fisker Karma around my work twice, but I think there are better PHEV options in the luxury segment now.

    As someone who is thinking about buying an i3-Rex, I'm not overjoyed at the crappy fuel economy of the ICE either. But then I remind myself that I anticipate up to an annual consumption of 20 gallons a year of petrol for my purposes if I use the car for winter work commuting. Beyond that, the ICE is an emergency outlet and a tax I pay to appease my wife who is less than satisfied owning a BEV like our LEAF that has range limitations.

    So instead of owing a LEAF + Prime, I think we'll transition to Tesla Model 3 + i3-Rex

    It was one of the few cars I was actually surprised to spot on the road.

    Owning both a 2017 Prime and 2014 i3-REx, I would lean towards the Prime because I live in a more temperate climate with milder winters. Toyota has fixed the major problems in the Prius family and have excellent reliability in part from conservative battery control laws. In a climate with a severe winter and mountains, the i3-REx would be a better choice.

    With manual control over the REx and more power, it would be 'king of the mountain.' Avoid the 2014 i3-REx as it has (had) a number of weaknesses including the motor mount. If you can afford the i3s-REx, go for it and enjoy.

    Personally I would avoid the battery-only vehicles because the charging infrastructure still has aways to go. With a gas engine, you can skip an over a busy or broken charger and complete your trip. Thinking ahead, you can all but avoid burning even a small amount of gas yet secure in knowing you'll get where your going.

    Thanks for the perspective.

    Curious, that I view the i3 as a LEAF replacement and the Tesla as the Prime replacement. This probably mostly reflects my intended use of each car but also my functional Supercharger (and very functional "in 2018") infrastructure even in my fairly middle-of-nowhere in Colorado location.

    By the way, you are a key part of my willingness to buy the i3 ReX. BMW should be paying you.

    Specially here at Finland big SUV hybrid sell nicely because such low car tax. Nonsense to not buy one if buying for example porche. I think Volvo, BMW etc are not either making hybrids to go green, they are build to get low emissions on the test for this kind a markets in EU.
