Dont know if my 2013 PIP has an AUX in?

It is a japanese model. I would love to use Bluetooth even... but that is causing me so much frustration, not being fleunt in Japanese.... I can see that the phone works for hands-free3 calling... but so far, nothing I do, lets me play my podcasts to the stereo, despite it making a connection. Anyway. I have given up on Bluetooth.

I do NOT have an AUX-in, in my:

    1. centre console
    2. bit in the middle where you store your crap (there is a cigarette lighter doofer in there).
    3. Between the heater controls

I couldnt see anything in the glove-box.

I see HEAPS of blanked-off things which makes me think I have the Flintstones edition.

Is there anywhere else I should look for an AUX in ? To me, AUX-in is the 3.5mm plug that goes from your phone to the stereo, usually. The only slots in the stereo are for SD cards and CDs.

    Cheers
    jeff

Not familiar with all Japanese models since they have a slew of radio/headunits available as options (unlike the US where you get a set radio unit depending on trim).

Bluetooth comes in both handsfree phone and streaming music but note they’re not the same thing so it’s possible it only has handsfree calling.

The aux, if equipped, will be located inside the centre console box next to the 12V outlet.

Is it even an OEM headunit? What brand is it? Many imports I see here have some aftermarket unit installed, so there could be anything there. If you share pictures of the Bluetooth menu I might be able to read it, there may be separate options to enable Bluetooth for calling and audio streaming for a particular device - but as @Tideland Prius said it may only allow calling.

My 2012 U.S. PIP has a USB port in the console box, and I can insert a flash drive there to play MP3s.

My 2013 PiP has been through the Thames factory conversion (Signature class), but has the 12v outlet in the centre console box between seats, and next to the 12v is a flat flap which covers the Aux inlet - have another look..

My flap has been "blanked" off. I am finding LOTS of blanked off things. I was very hopeful when I saw it initially.

Its a Panasonic CN-R300WD. Ive googled the snot out of it, and google translated the menus but still no success. A shame it has the damn camera in it, as these things are about $400 in NZ. Just paid $400 for a spare key for my wife. Ouch.

Looks like you got a base S or L model from Japan.

I did fiund a USB plug that hangs out from under the dash. What might this be for? Diagnostics? I plugged my phone into it once, and it did charge but other than that it didnt seem to be overly useful.

I've got one of those too - just an extra usb power feed.

When I bought my PiP, Toyota had replaced the Japanese head unit with a (non-satnav) one suitable for NZ (still Toyota branded). I have in turn replaced this with a sat-nav unit.

The one that came out has AUX and USB on the front (Toyota 86140-OE150) - you are welcome to it for a few $ :) ...

My 2013 is signature class too, but I got a Kenwood head unit , works with the factory camera. I’m looking at getting an android own looking headunit from trade me, My only power port is in the centre console. I only have the seat heaters and a 110v power port under the centre console. Does anyone know, assuming I had a 110v appliance ( kettle or something small ) would it work in that plug? I’m a bit hesitant to use it as I don’t want to stuff anything up. I’m thinking of connecting my iPhone charger to it

110 volt outlet in the car - I don't think so. You will have a 12 volt power socket that traditionally takes a lighter coil, that you can put a usb converter into, and charge anything like an iPhone.

I bought a Toyota Universal Lumina headunit from OEMAudio (oemaudio.co.nz), who are based in ChCh. They have good gear, and also provide a link to local installers who know what they are doing, and will come to you...

You are confusing what external power is needed for charging a plugin, and what power is supplied by the car to devices.
A PiP can be exported anywhere, as the EVSE (charger cable) provides the correct power to the car by converting from the local power supply. In Japan an EVSE for 110 volts is needed, in NZ an EVSE for 230 volts is needed, you have to change to the correct cable.
You are thinking of power that the car supplies in turn to devices inside the car. This is based on the car having a 12 volt DC supply (battery), and all devices use that.

Once your Japanese domestic market PiP has been exported to NZ, and has been provided with the correct EVSE, the original 110 volt "problem" is gone forever...
