There was a separate thread about towing with a Prius. Perhaps a small trailer with a generator on it would do the trick.
Back in the day, the US developed the "space pen" so astronauts could write in zero gravity. The Russians used pencils.

Edit: Perhaps to solve the cooling issue, there can be a tow-behind cart specified, perhaps of carbon fiber or some sort of unobtanium. Platform - Towable - Charging, with a MILSPEC at least. Put a fuel cell on it, wrap the whole thing in a sleek Kevlar for good aerodynamics. I think that is doable for less than $5 million or so, assuming no design changes after production start...

I remember that. A friend told me about the appliance manufacturer he used to work for that bought some new equipment. They paid a consultant a million dollars to tell them how to get the most out of it. He simply said, "Hire a third shift and run it 24 hours a day."

They should have hired an "expert consultant." The difference? A consultant is more than 50 miles from home. The expert consultant is also more than 50 miles from home, but carrying a briefcase.

    REALLY ??
You have been around here long enough to know that those kinds of obsessions are fairly common with car owners.
    Seems moreso with Prius owners.

Common autocross method - cool the engine between runs. Ice on the intake runners during the runs, etc. The Tesla S in Ludicrous Mode subcools components ahead of time as well.

While on the starting grid, MotoGP bikes cover the gas tanks with insulation, warming blankets around the tires, and umbrella girls shading the riders. Lots of temperature management going on in one little starting box! ;)

Same with F1 cars - they pull into the pits and the mechanics are all over them with leaf blowers to cool them, and they keep warming blankets on the tires up to a few seconds before they leave the pits. Unfortunately, Liberty F1 wants to get rid of grid girls in F1.

Off-topic, but this is a myth.

First, pencils were dangerous in space. Pencil lead tips can flake/break off and float around, and the wood casing is flammable. The Russians just tolerated more risk to their astronauts than we did.

Second, the Space Pen was not designed by the government. It was designed by the manufacturer (Paul C. Fisher of the Fisher Pen Co.) - using his OWN money. No development costs were ever charged to the government afterwards, either.

True. Note that I did not specify that the US government built this, just that this was the US solution to the problem. Back them, developing products for NASA was a prestigious thing, and Mr Fisher (being the savvy businessman that he was) recognized that he could sell a lot of these with the NASA tie in. I bought one.

Good point, jb. Fisher was actually brilliant about marketing his pens, too. I'm sorry for misreading your comment. This is kind of a hot-button issue for me.

There's a common version of this story that says it was the government that spent many millions, the moral being that government spending is always wasteful and useless.

Drives me up a wall, especially since I worked on developing new ball point ink for a while. There are plenty of other wasteful examples people could pick on, but no, they have to make it sound like my field was the source of a truly massive government boondoggle.

    Sorry for ranting.

Not a problem. The US government does have somewhat of a well-earned reputation for inefficiency.

I was wondering the same, but if not, I hope the OP keeps this thread alive with updates.

Remember, he does ride sharing and the purpose of the cooler is so he can bring his own food to save money.
