I am in the process of installing my aftermarket head unit and the last component left to connect is the reverse camera. I purchased an adapter from a local car AV specialist and they said it would suit. Here is the product number:
    APVTY01

However this connector is not working! I have tried measuring the voltage outputs from the pins connecting to it to work out which pin is outputting when the car is in reverse but all of the pins seem to be outputting zero volts.

Is this the correct harness adapter for my car?

    Any help is appreciated!!

    My original head unit is:

    PZQ060-00525
    (On the back 135834-126)

I don't know if that harness is correct.

I used an Axxess AX-TOYCAM3 for that swap in my car. I'm sure there are other brands so the one you have might be right anyway.

Note that the factory deck puts out 6 volts to the reverse camera, but most aftermarket units put out 12 volts. You can fry your camera if you don't install a regulator.

    Thanks for the reply!

I will have a look at that, seems like that harness puts the camera signal on a completely different connector. I will probe the pins on the 24 pin connector to see if that is where the backup 6V signal is coming from!

I wish I had better notes to offer. I drew up a few pinouts and circuit sketches when I did my installation, but never scanned them into the computer. Now I'm traveling for work, it'll be a week before I'm back near my home garage.

I'm looking to do the same thing with my 2014 Prius C 4. I've got a backup camera added from Camera Source that is 6V and it works great with the factory head unit. I'm hoping to replace the head unit with something that does Carplay but I really want to retain my existing backup camera.

    I found this on Crutchfield:

    https://www.crutchfield.com/S-5XYmdA7GVY5/p_541CAMTY11/PAC-CAM-TY11-Backup-Camera-Cable.html

    PAC-CAM-TY11

According to the notes on that page, it contains a red wire output that supplies 6V to the camera. I can't find pictures of it, so I can't confirm it fits exactly into the back of the existing head unit.

So in theory this adapter should work.

EDIT: Hmm, the text is more unclear than I first thought. It says: "The red wire is used to inject 6 volts to the factory camera. It needs to be used with a 12 to 6 volt converter, such as the one built into the 541RP4TY11. The black wire is ground." So it's really a 12V output? Hmm....

When I did ours, I bought the head unit from Crutchfield. They had all the wrong info in their database, so they sent me all the wrong stuff.

They made it right (because they're Crutchfield, and they always make it right) by sending me an Amazon voucher and instructions to go buy the Metra AX-CAM6V because Crutchfield didn't have any in stock themselves. That did the job perfectly- took the 12v supply from my new Sony deck and regulated it down to 6V for the OEM camera. It's been in service on the car for a little over a year now, no complaints.

The Crutchfield guy also mentioned that going forward, they were going to use a different AXXESS kit for the Prius c. Apparently there is a kit which contains both the AX-TOYCAM3 and the AX-CAM6V in one bag but I don't know the part number. Good luck!

Hi I dont knw if you have already done your install. but from the picture it appears as though you have the same oem connectors as my Prius c 2017 model. i found this harness (APVTY04) Aerpro | First Choice in an australian store that connects to the oem cable. It might fit your demand. I havent tested it myself as i am still waiting for it. hope it helps

    UPDATE:

After a busy few weeks I managed to have a few hours to sit down and get this working.

I managed to get the reverse camera using the APVTY01. The issue was that the +6V and GND power pins to the camera were reversed for whatever reason.

Swapping the +6V and the GND powers the camera correctly and allows the reverse camera to function. I'll drop an image below to show the change I made:

Good morning. May I trouble you. I want to add a new Radio wit navigation and was hoping to get the pin layout at the back to help with the new connections please. Thank you Theo (New Zealand)
