I just purchased a MFD for our 2006 Prius. But it arrived with the black outer plastic cover cracked/broken. How hard is it to dismantle the unit and replace the black plastic cover? Right now I have the newer MFD with the broken plastic and the old MFD with a good plastic cover. Anyone ever try replacing the exterior of a MFD?

It's not hard at all, its more work removing the screen itself from the car. Once you've got the screen out it's literally a few screws holding it to the black outer case, and swopping over onto a new outer case.

Follow up. Son took the car to school. Screen was black for a few minutes. Then came on as usual. Good for the rest of the day. Wife took the car next day and same thing happened. Son had the car yesterday...screen functioned normally. What could this be? Is there any way to do a reset? Disconnect 12v battery perhaps? Would I have to recalibrate the screen after that?
