These people are stealers, not dealers as is clear by the costs stated. Any competent person can pop these off and the replacements come with the attachment pins, even though you will not need them if you are careful removing the originals.

There is something very Canadian about that, "ahem" (paraphrasing the only scene I have ever seen of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure).

Well was going to shell out the $85 off this other website, someone mentioned, for the parts and then see if I can get a someone to install them, but maybe I can just go to a body shop and see if they can fix it without shelling out a lot of money for that parts. I don’t get taken Advantage often, but I know nothing about these plastic panel things and I don’t know what’s normal on price/labor for parts like these-that’s why I ask.

Makes it look so simple, but again I’d have to use the sun as “heat lamp” and knowing my luck I would break something.

I think getting it off the double-sided adhesive is the first step; it won't move at all until that's accomplished. Maybe slip something like a putty knife in to keep it from rebonding.

I wish there was a you tube video then I’d feel a bit better about removing it myself, going to check with auto body shop around me and see if they can repair it for cheaper than purchasing the side panels..or may just deal with it for awhile.

GOOGLE something like Car Body Wrap.

It's a vinyl coat - it's actually removeable apparently, so your grey car can be pink for the next 2 years, then matte (yuk) blue for a few more, then have stripes - and finally metallic gold.

But I'd be surprised if they couldn't put a wrap over those 2 panels - pick your colour!!!!

Well that’s cool...So do you think a car wrap place might actually wrap those 2 panels? Or I’d have to wrap it myself? Might forgo the stripes and pink for now though:)

Ring a couple of them up - or drive there and show them - it's not a "normal" thing - but it should be an easy job for them. I saw a YouTube of a car being done once. Can't see the one I was thinking of - but this gives an idea - just a roof, mirrors on this one.

I've seen some in metallic etc - the only one I know of personally had a clear coat put on - I think on his bonnet (hood), front panels and sills.

Vinyl wrap film needs to have a good surface to look its best. Underlying "textures issues" will show through the thin film. But I agree that it will be easy to pull them off and replace them with the relatively inexpensive replacement parts.

Yes, I have no idea - it might be a very cheap job - but might surprise me with being exorbitant.

I called a wrap place and they said they don’t do anything if clear coat is peeling, so may just buy parts.

Maybe some brave soul with a fourth gen can try prying it off on theirs, see how easy it is?

And video it:)... I actually Might try when I get the parts, it seems easy enough-I don’t think the parts come with adhesion tape stuff-so not sure how I would “glue” it back and all that. I talked to another body shop and they said $55-$60 labor for each side- a little cheaper than Toyota dealer, but not by much.
