Hi Everyone.I really need some help.I have a 2012 Toyota Aqua hybrid.I have been trying to install a cruise control kit .I have done everything according to fitting instuctions but whenever i press the cruise control switch i get an error message on the dash "Check cruise control system" and then a beep sound.
As the Aqua isn't pre-wired for cruise,i had to connect the clockspring cable to the ecm and an earth wire from clockspring steering wheel connector to earth.Everything is plugged into the correct terminals. So frustrating...
Is there something else i need to fit?A fuse or relay maybe? Got me beat. Why am i getting the error message, and how do i check the cruise control system? Thanks...

    Hi Graham,

Bummer you are having this problem.

Where did you get the kit ?
Can you post pictures of the install points and the ecm codes?

I know there are folks on the forum with the right know-how and reference Manuals to help.

    Good luck!
    Rob

I have seen a few threads about adding cruise to the C1, and more than once I have seen a reference to a problem with the stop lamp switch on the brake pedal- something about the instructions being opposite from what's on the car. I wish I could be of more help but our car came with CC. (Oddly enough I'm halfway through installing CC on our Hyundai; not loving the Rostra documentation...)

Hi Rob. I decided to use a genuine Toyota CC switch as i had heard some worrying stories about aftermarket ones.I purchased the connection wires from Aliexpress. I can't show photos as i have fitted back all plastic panels etc.
I have watched installation videos on Youtube and followed the instructions to the letter..Checked and double checked everything.
As this is a 2012 Toyota Aqua,Japanese market version of the Prius C,and the first year of production ,maybe the ECU hasn't been programmed for cruise control. There was no battery jump terminal under the hood until the 2013 year so maybe...

All the videos on Youtube do not mention anything about the brake pedal switch.Luckily i haven't drilled any holes in the plastic steering wheel CC cover.I might have to admit defeat and revert back to factory spec and have no cruise control..Not the end of the world.lol.
