Been seeing a few of them for sale on lots in SoCal. One had 13K miles for $19k. Not a bad deal, made me think about it.

Yeah but that price translates to US$31k using 65cents to the CAD.

Canadians always pay the “European price” for US cars,
I guess you guys just have more $$$ and seem to get our castoffs?

What I found more amazing was the extremely high percentages of crashed US EVs that get exported, 20 years ago a majority of crashed cars getting exported would have been unheard of

Well 1/10th the population of the US might have something to do with purchasing power ;).

I think California has a greater population than Canada.

I believe that's more than Pennsylvania.

There were, at most, 3000 Mirai sold or leased in California. One ending up exported to Canada doesn't seem like a good sign on demand for the car.

It’s not on sale to the public in Canada. It is available in Quebec to fleet buyers and will be available to BC fleet buyers in July.

I have seen several 2nd gen RAV4 EVs. No idea where they’re getting their service done.

That doesn't exactly improve the appearance of demand for the car in California.

Or did the US-space phrase throw me off. Is this car an off Canadian fleet lease, not an off US lease import?

    It's a US off-lease import because it's a 2016 model. I don't think Mirais were available until last year.

But Fuel Cell vehicles are the future. Not those fad EVs. Toyota told me so!

Sorry I realized it was clear. I was talking about the $41,985 from the photo in the original post. That one translate to $31,100 at 1.35x

You should investigate more on Hydrogen, many countries are leaning towards hydroelectric over pure BEV. The US trucking industry is also more likely to go Hydroelectric.

Is that really what they're calling it? It brings to mind an image of a huge water wheel attached to the back of the vehicle. And it provokes a line of criticism common with other renewable energy sources: it only works when it's sunny/windy/raining.

I was also confused at first, until I realized its just a fancier name for a hydrogen-powered FCV.

Also to the "only works when its sunny/windy/etc" argument, I like to retort "its always sunny/windy/etc somewhere".
