That "savings" is not based on prius' 50MPG.

You understand that a supercharger V3 can add up to 75 miles of range in 5 minutes right?

there may be folks still living so primatively that they still fear 'regular' cars - saying, "you'll never catch me in one of those things. I'm riding the yak down to the Village Market"

To be honest, I wasn't aware of that, and it does make the purchase a bit more sensible. But that range is still rather limited, for a brand new, expensive car. This compromise doesn't make sense to me, just to have a pure EV. I'll keep my Prime, but would like to have a more luxurious interior.

it's a personal decision, based on many factors. that's why we have choices, fortunately

Maybe theoretically for a Model 3 but the OP has an X and it's only 115 miles in 15 minutes.
If you want a more luxurious interior without spending Tesla money, look at the Clairity Touring. There's a lot of cash on the hood so they're going for around $30k + TTL, then up to a $7500 tax credit.

Advantages: more EV range, more room, 5th seat, more luxurious, faster, lane keep assist
Disadvantages: less MPGs, smaller gas tank, reliability, 7500 mile oil change interval, not a hatchback

YouTube vlogger Casey Neistat just recently drove NYC to LA and reported stopping every 2-3 hours for 20-30 minutes to charge. I personally dont see that as hard to swallow, stopping is quite nice, and a 20-30 minutes to stretch out, little power nap.

If I hadn't rolled so much negative equity into my prime I would make the cross over. I thoroughly enjoy openpilot in my prime and would love to go full ev and have autopilot.

    But..but...but
I've read several articles recently proclaiming the absolute futility of embracing an electric car future?

From what I've read, there aren't enough resources on this planet and 20 parallel universe planets to make them a good idea.

I'm so depressed now about anything that is battery powered at any level that I feel like buying a 1/4 ton Dodge Pick-Up truck, and cheering myself up by doing donuts in a nature preserve.

    Nah...just kidding...
Congratulations sounds like a great car. Have fun.

come on over for breakfast tomorrow. I'll split my last scrambled Dodo egg with you. It's not much, I'll mix it with a couple Condor eggs.

It sure is! Personally, the Tesla numbers don’t add up to me quite yet. And I’m not necessarily a car enthusiast either. At this point our cars are appliances more than anything else. This happens when you need to maintain a ‘family fleet’!

Enjoy it and congrats! Sorry you're getting negativity, some people think when you choose differently than them, you're somehow insulting them.

I have been looking hard at Tesla for AutoPilot because I have a 75 mile one way commute that is mostly boring highway, and it's slowly killing me. I had not heard of OpenPilot, will look into that as well for my Prime Premium.

I myself am looking at a new Model 3 vs. a used Model S. Tesla is sporadically selling used Long Range (315 mi) Model 3s for about the cost of a new Standard Plus (240 mi) price. They're typically at 10k miles and retain the original factory warranty 4yrs or 50k miles).

My friend got a Model X and loves it, particularly AutoPilot. When he forgets to hold the wheel and it shuts off, he will exit the highway and restart the car just so he can use AutoPilot again. That's a good endorsement.

To solve that problem with the Tesla, you just buy a pair of prop hands used in the movie industry, stick them to the steering wheel so the sensor detects them and YOU can be hands free
