We've been more than pleased with this new 2018 Prius, Model 4. It has superseded the Gen 3 in every category. Yesterday however, we noticed that the ICS was not working. Previously it would announce the edge of the garage door upon every arrival. The ICS system IS active and the ICS OFF indicator light is NOT lit. Yes, if ICS is turned off the indicator responds as expected. It all looks good. Just to be sure we cautiously approached the house in drive, and in reverse, and the ICS seems inactive.
I'm not seeing much for news regarding others with difficulty or troubleshooting. It is of course under warranty, but I'd like to make sure I've covered all the bases.

    A little additional detail:
    * If the ICS system is malfunctioning it may issue a warning that reads: "ICS System Malfunction, Visit Your Dealer". Alas I'm not seeing this.
    * Also if there is a difficulty that inhibits ICS such as snow your may get the message: "ICS Unavailable" which may be accompanied with a blinking ICS OFF indicator. Again, I'm not seeing this.
    * I don't believe the Parking Assist needs to be activated but it is in this case.

OK, apparently My-Bad. The ICS is now offering the visual and audible warnings but I have no idea what brought about the change.

ICS seems to be a bit finicky. We have other members that reported issues in heavy rain that don't go away until a day or two after driving in the heavy rain.

On the 4.2" MID, go to settings, ICS, OFF

Just went out to my car, went through my settings, and the ICS is on. When I backed into my garage in the past, I always got warnings when I was too close to things. All that has quit now.

Something's gone awry then. (Although it usually gives an annoying, persistent warning message if ICS failed).

If you're talking about the beeps, that's Intuitive Parking Assist. ICS doesn't actually do the beeping... it only does the auto-brake at low speeds.

I used to get the beeps and the warnings on the dash letting me know how close I was to an object when parking. Now nothing. Guess it may be time for my dealer to troubleshoot it.
Oddly enough, when I’m backing up and cross traffic is going by , I still get those alerts.

ICS can be set to on or off, and allows 3 settings of sensitivity, I believe. I had a recent ICS recall on my 2017 Prime (did other Gen4 Prii get a recall?). After the recall service, the MID screen was very much improved, and audible warnings were as well. Each sensor showed up on the MID (grey) with visuals of close calls (red), something the 2017 default didn't offer. I think it might be too annoyingly sensitive now, but overall it is a vast improvement to the sudden red STOP I had before, with no warnings whatsoever of me approaching something that might cause harm.

Again, check the intuitive parking assist. That’s the one giving the beeps, not ICS.

Also, RCTA relies on a different set of sensors (radar) so it’s not affected by the sonar sensors for ICS or Intuitive Parking Assist.

Problem solved. . Looks like when I had the car serviced a couple of weeks ago, one of the techs turned off parking assist. .ThxTideland for your assistance.
