I was working on the brakes, so I disconnected the negative battery cable (I would like another way to disable the brakes without doing this in the future, but thats not my immediate problem)
While the battery was disconnected, I realized the key was in the slot. Car starts and works but now the keyless entry is not working at all. The red light comes on (I tried a new battery anyway, to no avail.)
Is it possible that with the key in the slot and the 12v battery disconnected, it deprogrammed the Keyfob?
This car also doesnt have the button under the steering wheel, nor buttons on the door handles. And I think this is the only fob I have.

Have you checked if your 12v battery is healthy? Above 12v? A fully charged 12v battery will be around 12.9v

Not that I’ve ever heard of.

If you can work on your own brakes, you should own a simple volt meter

Have you tried disconnecting the 12v battery without the key in the slot?

Still have no idea what happened to this fob. Any ideas on how to reprogram the fob? I dont have the button under the steering wheel that does this.

the button under the steering wheel just turns sks on/off, no programming. you can't lose programming.

if it were me, i would satisfy myself that the low hanging fruit is okay, because its going to get complicated and expensive after that.

12v health is good (12.4v minimum while car has been off 4 hours) all connections clean and tight.

fob battery health and installed correctly

no stuck buttons on fob and contacts clean

rid chip didn't fall out of the fob
