we got caught in dc flash flooding in the early 2000's while visiting in august. i have never seen a storm move in so quickly. we sought high ground under the eave of a federal building, but not before getting caught in axle high water.
the lightning show was amazing. it left as fast as it came, but i have no idea how much rain fell. the subway under l'enfant plaza was flooded. we all had to go buy dry shoes.

That's an excellent point. Unfortunately, that makes my car suspect! There were an incredible number of cars involved and at least compromised, if not totalled.

It was one of the weirder things I have experienced. For 20 minutes before the rain started it was black as night. Not dark like an eclipse, rather black just like midnight. We got a record 3.3 inches of rain in one hour (a month's worth) and at one point it was raining at a rate of 5.04 inches per hour. I found high ground and stayed put.

While I didn't feel that bad for the idiots who drove into the water figuring they could get through, the sad part was the people who parked normally on the street and then went to work or whatever. I saw a line of cars parked with water come up to their windows. There was pretty much no advance warning that this was going to happen.

Hey my Prius is great looking and dry!!! I bet I get a good trade on it. Looking marvelous (thnaks to a few minor insurance fix ups)

I did see in the news one submerged Prius which was 2006 vintage totalled. I personally would NOT put the recent DC flooding in the special category of H. Sandy in NJ/NY and the Houston flooding. Much more limited, a few cars. I would be more suspicious of a 2012 PiP from NJ/NY (Sandy).

But it's buyer beware, all the time, in general....I did buy one used mninvan years ago in highsight might have been a flood car. Traded that sick baby in for a new 2006 Prius a while back.
