2013 Scion FRS Wheels

Guys I just bought a brand new Prius 2017. I didn't like the 15" OEM rims. So i bought a slightly used set of 17 " BRZ wheels. But the are jamming on the calipers. Pls advise what size spacer to be used both for front back, as all wheels are jamming on the calipers

Thanks. Its done now I have installed the rims and used 3MM spacers all around.

 

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread. I paid 425.00 for my new take off wheels and tires, 55.00 for lugs, spacers, and hubcentric rings on eBay. I also bought TRD lowering springs and lower chrome molding for 329.00 from oem parts world. So I got this look for around 800.00 total. I used the information from this thread and the lowering springs DIY thread.

Can I use the above parts with the Frs wheel mod?

 

The wheels catch the calipers at the front AND rear so you need 3mm rear spacers or work on the caliper bridges as others have stated

I don't know if those spacers will work or not. All you need is 3mm of clearance.

 

I just installed my FRS wheels with 3mm spacers and worked out great. Question on the TPMS, I bought a new set for the FRS wheels and installed them with new tires. When I put the new wheels on the car it didn't throw the TPMS light on the dash like I was expecting. The new TPMS did not get entered into the system and thought it was quite odd. I know that my old ones worked when I got a flat tire and even today with the new wheels the light comes on when I start the car but turns itself off. Any thoughts?

 

Just a quick update, it took 5 days but my TPMS system finally noticed the lack of the old sensors and is now throwing the TPMS indicator on the dash.

 

Same here, throwing TPMS on the FRS wheels after installation. I've read the previous posts and found the following solutions but am wondering what is best?

1. Have a shop install the original Prius TPMS in the FRS wheels. (valid)
2. Reprogram the TPMS using techstream (not validated)
3. Use the TPMS reset trick (which i don't know how "permenant" a fix is) anyone else try this below and confirm that it works long term?

I suggest you fill tires to 40psi and reset tire pressure warning system, then reduce to desired pressure like 36/38 or ??? This way the warning light goes off at 30psi. Warning light is 25% loss of air when system is reset. Reset instructions are simply:
1. Engine off, adjust inflation.
2. Turn power switch to ON, then press and hold reset switch until warning light blinks 3 time slowly. Reset switch is under drivers side dash.
3. Done. Now turn the car off and reduce air pressure to what you want.
BTW, factory 17" wheels recommends 33 front / 32 back although most run more air for better mileage.

I know this is old but get a flapper disc and grind caliper brackets a little bit and done, no spacers and no extended studs...save a bunch of money and no bullshit

I measured that 'bridge' of steel between the pad sliding surfaces, before and after thinning it enough to clear the wheel to create 1-2 mm of clearance.
I removed less than 10% of the thickness in just that area that would make contact with the wheel.
No big engineering deal....

 

Has anyone tried putting on the Toyota 86 rims (2017-2018) with a gen3 prius?

 

same size unless you get the Toyota 86 trd .. that has 18" wheels that are 7.5" wide rim. not sure if it will fit

Hey guys I've been learning through this thread (thanks a bunch) and recently pulled the trigger on a set with tires (80% tread) for a great price. I'm only getting 5 and 1/4 turns with the Motorsport-Tech Adapters and Gorilla lug nuts, so I scooped the Dorman 97206.1's on Rock Auto for $1.50 a piece! They're on clearance right now. I'd post a link but can't as I just joined. Just search that part number with Dorman and it will pop up.

I'm also going to soon be installing TRD Springs and new struts/shocks all around.

 

Nice! Depending on the tires your car must feel 'sportier', but it's less fuel efficient.
