I need an opinion on how to go about this this. I have 10 prius with 285k miles. I replaced the engine at 280k. I wanted to know the specs if the fuel flow can be measured using dash command. I Am worried about the fuel filter because the car is kind of slow. I drive it in regular mode. I have brand new michelin energy. As far as i know ghe last owner didnt know anything about maintenance for egr and it was all the way full with carbon.

The best thing you could do, would be to have someone with access to a lab scope or high end scanner to check your fuel trims for abnormal readings. O2 sensors may be erratic along with a dirty MAF sensor. All these Control you fuel trims. Plugged catylitic converter is also a possibility. That goes hand in hand with your discription. In any event these all have to be diagnosed by a competent technician with the proper tools.

In preventatively replaced the fuel pump on our sold 2010 at 199 k miles and found the filter to have plenty of sediment ;):

What did you do to ur Gen III Prius today????

So could it restrict fuel flow: sure:cool:

But something that can be sorted (y).

I’d just do the pump ;).

Draining the tank would be involved and collecting the gas could be tricky:cool:.

Good luck and keep us posted (y).

Before you go to the hassle of replacing the fuel pump on a whim, it might be prudent to, at lease do a fuel pressure test. If the pump shows less than minimal specified pressure, then you have some proof. Verifying the problem first may save you a lot of time and money.
