Ok, I'm old enough to have earned my ire.

In Huntsville, the local TV is full of 'memorials' for the 1969 Moon landing. Certainly it was an impressive technological feat but the best comment was about the Johnson Center, display Saturn 5, "It should be on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean." Once upon a time, that rocket was flight qualified, then the last Moon mission was canceled.

I could also grumble about the Space Shuttle and the Single Stage to Orbit. Elon was not the first the land a reusable rocket. The current NASA launch rocket is an assembly of parts left over from the Shuttle . . . <grumble grumble grumble>.

The smartest thing NASA did was to fund private launch services. Space X, brilliant. Blue Origin, coming along S L O W L Y. Non-NASA, the Rocket Lab Electron, a beautiful disposable. These technologies have leap frogged the Space Launch System (SLS) and legacy rockets.

What gets me are loud mouths pontificating about rocket systems and accomplishment they are barely capable of understanding.

True, but hes the first to make it seem exciting. The true fuel of space exploration is hype.

Part of going there was taking extensive pictures. One of the things we haven't heard about formally is the base on the far side of the moon.

Here's about 23 minutes of Sgt Karl Wolfe talking about how he saw the pictures.

There's lots of pictures. It's more cratered, since the earth tends to shelter the near side.

What I'm waiting for is for Bob to spill the beans like Karl Wolfe. How long do you have to be retired to lose the "secrets forever" belief?

Unless you're a certain former cabinet level official that doesn't mind breaking the law, I'm thinking that the "secrets forever" belief is a lifelong commitment.

The last time I signed a hunk of paper mentioning lengthy prison terms and substantial fines for violating a Federal NDA, it specifically stipulated that you couldn't talk about it even if the "secrets" had already been publicly "disclosed."

    Standard Form 312 - Wikipedia

    Hey....
Nations get to have secrets, right?

Just ask the idiots who manage to break into Groom Lake....
    Oh wait.

    Never mind.
Those people aren't talking, are they?

I've been on both sides of signs like these, and you know what used to be specifically PROHIBITED????

    That's right.
    Warning Shots.... ;)

I’ve been watching this too! I’m old enough to remember the Apollo 11 Moon landing - the entire mission, in fact.
Fascinating doesn’t even begin to describe that wonderful moment in mankind’s history.
