Can I go to a regular garage to change brake pads and rotors

    Some updates:

    I went to a local garage to have a second opinion. The front disks were eroded pretty bad, a technician showed me pics of the backside of the disks. I guess, mostly it was because of the salt for winter road deicing.

    Customers can never win. We are at the mercy of those "experts".

    Yes, I got a better price, CAD470, more than CAD200 cheaper than the dealer.

    Any time you have the wheel off, say for a tire rotation, by removing one bolt and loosening another one, you can flip the caliper up, remove the pads, and totally look at both the near side and the "dark side" of the rotor. Then you put the pads back, calipers back down, bolts back in.

    Takes just about that long, more or less.

    who ever has the wheels off? makes a horrible scraping sound on the road
