    I could forsee some design problems with this, especially if you forgot your half-finished cup of coffee in the car... Also the rack is going to have to be way stronger once they realize how much crash safety protection needs to be added to their prototype.

    Legally, it is a motorcycle. So it can skip on the safety features cars require.

    Parking like this has been possible ever since we got rid of the horses. It’s been impractical for a lot of reasons that still haven’t changed.

    The car motorcycle itself seems interesting, but if they’re already going to these lengths to get it noticed then something is up.

    There are already other companies working on the EV trike.
    Arcimoto | The Everyday Electric
    Solo - Electra Meccanica
    Those two have actual prototypes, and may have even delivered some trikes.
    So Nobe needs a hook to get the extra attention.

    $29K for an electric trike with 130 mile range versus
    $40K (including delivery) for a telsa model 3 standard plus with autopilot and a 240 mile range, autopilot, access to super chargers, seating for 5, one of the safest vehicles on the road.

    The biggest thing I see going for this is the tax credit (expiring for tesla in the US at end of the year). There was a reason for these beasts 5 years ago when batteries were more expensive but very little today. Lots of inexpensive competition coming from china soon.

    The posted range is probably based on NEDC; expect under 100 miles for EPA.

    The Electra Meccanica Solo once listed a price of $15,500 with a 100 mile range. Though, I have no idea if that is actually EPA based as these are motorcycles. They have actually delivered some 'cars', have stores on the west coast, and the parent company has been around for decades. If that range is based on EPA test cycles, and the price is that low, this would work as a commuter for me.

    Not being a car, these aren't eligible for the federal tax credit we are most familiar with. There was an EV motorcycle one of 10%, up to $2500, but it may have expired last year.

    The Chinese competition isn't looking very competitive. The BYD e6 has 187 miles of range for $35k, if it is actually available.

    I’m curious about the economics of those parking stacks. I’ve seen them, and I’ve used parking facilities equipped with them, though I wouldn’t know if my car had ever gone on the ride so to speak.

    I have noticed that I’ve never seen one on a lot that charged less than $30 per 24hrs.

    I don’t imagine it would be difficult. The simple stacking kind just needs progressively longer leads for the upper tiers. You’d probably want to have the traveling slack cable feed a junction box that was mounted on the lifting surface, and then use a shorter cable from that point to the receptacle on the car to eliminate snags.

    For the carousel sort? I don’t know if those allow for continuous rotation. If not, I imagine a high-amp version of a clockspring cable would do the trick.

    I’m sure the lots in question would welcome a value-add to get them up to $50 / 24hr…

    On the other hand, I reckon they could manage it by only storing the longer-term visitors on the elevated racks. That’s already SOP on the ones I’ve seen in NYC. The same scheduling system they use now could be hacked to get the EVs back down to earth a few hours early so they could be topped up from a ground-level charger.

    That's cheap - $58+ a day here is normal - though there are long-term-pre-booking arrangements from $35.
