So i changed the battery of my key. Its a non smart key. And every now and then it still wont start sometimes. The security indicator will flash rapidly and wont let me start car. And then theres a indicator triangle type that comes on my dashboard and says "turn lights off" i dont understand that because all lights are off. Anyway, the security indicator flashes rapidly and theres a sound coming from the engine hood compartnent and then the alarm will randomly go off on WHILE the security indicator flashes. Its really frustrating. After about 30 minutes another alarm will go off and then car finally starts. The times clock messed up delaying the minutes back, after i specifically changed it to right time but after this security flashing alarm issue and when car finally starts, the time shows wrong.

Does anybody know whats going on? Its not the 12v, because i drive this car everyday. But every 2-4 days it wont let me start. Is it not reconizing my key?

No it wasnt the fob key battery after all. When i put my key in to start it, the security started flashing and wouldnt let me start the car. The service mechanic advisor told me thats the first sign of 12 v battery failure. I couldnt take a chance so i told them to replace it.

Now my car is going more smoother .

He also said my compressor is making noise. Although it works fine. Car is 61k. How long can compressor last until?

possibly hundreds of thousands of miles, or, can quit anytime. both extremes very unlikely.

the electric compressor is noisy anyway, so it is hard to determine if it is a symptom of possible failure.

just drive it and hope for the best, you can't repair/maintain them. if it does go, look for a used one and someone familiar with electric a/c systems to install it.

a regular car mech would have to be savvy on both a/c and electric a/c. i'm no expert, but there is a special oil that has to be used, or the whole system can be contaminated.

research some a/c threads, all prius a/c is the same
