P0A93 Powertrain error

    howdy,
    i received this error on the way home last night, P0A93- inverter A cooling system. it was about 95f out and i was driving for about 20 mins. i reset the code on the fly and it came back up about 5 mins later. car is running good but needs this fixed. also my mpg has dropped bout 4mpg since then. i looked it up and found that it is the pump for the inverter not working. i double pressed the start button the get the a/c going and then checked the tank to see if there was any movement of fluid, there was none. checked the fuse and it was good. i am guessing this is the pump not working. it looks like i can maybe get to it myself as it is only 3 bolts. also when checking the tank for movement the freaking cap fell behind the motor and never came out, does anyone know the part number for the just the cap. damn car swallowed it. i have ducktape on it for now as it looks like it is a low pressure pump even though it is now working. any ideals would be great. thanks.     Very easy to swap the pump. Access is easiest if you remove the driver headlight. Purchase 2 medium sized hose clamps to pinch off the coolant hoses at the pump assembly. You'll only lose about 3 ounces of fluid. You can also purchase a Toyota pump online for ~75 dollars. It runs 150+ if you get it at AutoZone etc, which is aftermarket. There are several videos on YouTube showing how to do it by removing the headlight.

    When I do them, I remove the headlight, unbolt the pump, pack some paper towels around the bottom area of pump, clamp off the hoses, swap the pump, remove the pinch clamps. After it's installed, I connect a small rubber hose to the bleed fitting (identical to a brake bleeder) and put the other end into the reservoir. Start the pump (by pressing power button x2 with foot off the brake). Crack open the fitting and watch the bubbles vent out. Shut the bleeder, remove hose, add a bit of fluid to reservoir, put the headlight back in, button everything up and get a beer.

    I bought two sets of clamps similar to these. They're about $8 a set from AutoZone or HarborFreight

    TMR-JWAP, do you ever need to replace the hoses/are they ever damaged from clamping/is it advisable to replace them at the same time?

    The clamps are actually pretty gentle on the hoses. The medium size from the 3 pack works best for the inverter cooling hoses, that's why 2 packs are needed. I've never had to replace any of the hoses.

    i ordered the pump from amazon for $54 and the clamps for $15 at autozone. the pump comes in friday so i will be doing it saturday morning before it is 100 degrees out. i drove it to work this morning as it was only 80 degrees and it never came on. this killer heat makes it go off.i will post pics of it as i do it if anyone has any questions. i am also not going to take the headlight out as it is pretty easy to reach with wrench extensions. i have noticed my mpg has dropped about 5mpg since the pumb went out, guess the heat is effecting it.

    changed the pump last night. all went well. I did not take the headlight out as there was just enough room to reach it. my only problem was the clamps that I bought for the hoses did not work and it drained all over my garage. I started the car up and that little pump just hums now. I did lose the reservoir cap. stupid thing fell behind the block and was swallowed up by the engine, it never fell, and I could not find it. I tried to find a replacement on line, but they only sell the entire tank which I don’t need. I will search the local pick and pays. thanks for the advice on doing this, you guys are a great help.

    Found a reservoir cap. It's the same one that is used for the highlander and rav4. Autozone has it for $7

    i decided to not remove the headlight. i removed the 2 bolts that hold the inverter in place and moved it about 2 inches to the left, this gave me enough room to get my fat arms in there. it took longer then if i removed the headlight but i hate taking that stuff apart because it never seems to go back the same way.

    I had the EXACT same issues, replaced the pump and everything. But the codes keep coming on. Any ideas?
